What’s Happening? The stadium at Stengel Field was demolished in the summer of 2015. The stadium was built back in the 40’s and recently suffered severe water damage forcing the City of Glendale to condemn most of the structure. The locker rooms, bathroom, and concessions were condemned in 2011 and now only temporary aluminum bleachers have replaced the once vibrant stadium.

Why is Stengel Field Important?

Stengel Field was built in 1949, and is widely considered a historical landmark in Glendale. The field is named after famous Glendale resident, , who frequented the ballpark. Casey Stengel was a former Major League player and is best known for his career as of the . Stengel won an unprecedented 7 and 10 pennants with the Yankees in only 12 seasons as Manager. Stengel coached several Hall of Famers including Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio, and . In the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s Stengel Field played host to the Yankees and several other professional baseball players.

Our Vision

We are a group of community members united under the non-profit organization, The Stengel Field Foundation, and dedicated to the restoration and preservation of Stengel Field. Our Vision is to rebuild a new Stadium, and restore a historical landmark in our community.
