For a Free and Democratic

Chris Hani - U.S. Tour "The people must get out into the streets and make their demands so that as we sit and talk to the regime, those voices of anger and impatience must be heard, because negotiations'are about democracy for the people, not just for a few of us." Chris Hani

Chris Hani is the highest ranking ANC leader to tour the U.S. since the historic Mandela visit a year ago. At 48, he represents the next generation of leadership; when many leaders were imprisoned or exiled, he was in and out of South Africa organizing the ANC underground. According to a Christian Science Monitor interview, "He is as popular among the thousands of exiled youth who left South Africa since the 1976 uprising as he is with militant Black youth inside the country."

"It is my opinion that both whites and Blacks pin their hopes on the likes of Chris Hani to bring about a peaceful resolution of the problems that we face." The Rev. T. S. Farisani, Deputy Bishop, Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Africa currently residing in SF Bay Area You are cordially invited to hear Chris Hani Chief of Staff of (ANC's military wing) Member, African National Congress Executive Committee and Political Bureau of the South African Party with Angela Davis scholar and activist Jim Ryder President, ILWU Local #6 and Vukani Mawethu Choir at People's Weekly World Banquet Sunday, April 28, 1991 at San Francisco Hyatt Regency Market St and Drumm, Embarcadero Center Social hour 1 pm - Dinner and program 2 pm Donation - $30 Program-only seating-2:30 pm - Donation $10 For reservations and tickets call /,j a "'/._ ~~I~ &(£>/--ff~r I Reservation to inner deadline-April 22nd Welcoming Committee Partial list Organizations for identification only Kendra Alexander Ignacio De La Fuente Fuad Mansour No Ca Chair.
