The homogeneity analysis produced a 58-year long homogenous dataset for 325 monthly precipitation sum with regional temporal variability and spatial coherence that is better than that of non-homogenized series. The dataset is more reliable in explaining the large-scale climate variations and was used to calculate the new climate normals in Norway. Keywords Homogenization, climate normals, precipitation Disciplinary signature Responsible signature 2 Abstract Climate normals play an important role in weather and climate studies and therefore require high-quality dataset that is both consistent and homogenous. The Norwegian observation network has changed considerably during the last 20-30 years, introducing non-climatic changes such as automation and relocation. Homogenization was therefore necessary and work has been done to establish a homogeneous precipitation reference dataset for the purpose of calculating the new climatological standard normals for the period 1991-2020. The homogenization tool Climatol was applied to detect inhomogeneities in the Norwegian precipitation series for the period 1961-2018. -

A numerical model with grid resolution 500 m has been used to simulate tides on a section of the shelf off the coast of Møre and Trøndelag in western Norway. The model spans c. 3° latitude and covers a sea area of c. 8.104 km2. The fine spatial resolution resolves important fine scale features of the bottom topography on the shelf and the complex coastline with fjords and islands. Boundary conditions at the oceanic sides of the model domain are obtained by interpolation from a larger scale tidal model cover- ing the Nordic Seas. The semi-diurnal components M2, S2 and N2 and the diurnal component K1 are simulated. Harmonic constants for sea level are compared with observations from 28 stations. The standard deviations between the observed and modeled ampli- tudes and phases for the dominant semi-diurnal component M2 are 1.7 cm and 4.8–7.0° respectively. Current fields from the model are compared with measurements from stations along the pipeline from Tjeldbergodden on the coast to the oil and gas fields on the northern rim of Haltenbanken. Parameters, particularly for the M2 current ellipse, are found to be in good agreement with mea- surements. -

This project organization may perspectively be viewed as a supply chain with value conceptions different from the everyday seafood supply chain it is meant to develop. Value is in this project context revealed as an inter- subjective complex phenomenon, founded in that value conceptions by actors located at different locations in the supply chain. This renders customer value as one of many dynamic value components in this project organization. Value embedded in a supply chain is therefore always a source of uncertainty, a subjective perspective; it cannot be considered as a clear functional purpose in projects aimed at developing food supply. The route to reallocate seafood freight should therefore focus on organizing interconnec- tivity to support networking and the project members accepting that the project outcome is emergent. Anja har vært prosjektleder for arbeidet på Nordmøre, og blant annet hatt hovedansvaret for spørreundersøkelsen, rapportene om tjenesteyting og lokaldemokrati, samt sluttrapporten. Audun Thorstensen er utdannet statsviter, og har vært ansatt ved Telemarksforsking siden 2007. Han jobber spesielt med kommunaløkonomi og KOSTRA-analyser, og har vært ansvarlig for de økonomiske beregningene og økonomirapporten i denne utredningen. Per Kristian Roko Kallager er utdannet statsviter og har vært ansatt som forskningsassistent ved Telemarksforsking siden våren 2015. Per jobber på kommunalområdet, og har siden oppstarten bidratt i flere utredninger knyttet til kommunestruktur. -

Einar Østmo 1 The History of the Norvegr 2000 BC–1000 AD When written in Chinese the word crisis is composed of two characters. One represents danger, and the other represents opportunity. John F. Kennedy, Indianapolis, April 12, 1959 Stretching for more than 2000 kilometres, Norway’s rugged coast has always posed a challenge to seafarers. Distribution of Late Neolithic artefacts imported from South Scandinavia indicates that coastal navigation became commonplace from approximately 2400 BC. Certain place- names of islands and promontories can probably be dated to the Bronze Age, indicating that the western sea-route must have been established during this period, when vessels were still pro- pelled by paddling and aristocratic societies flourished. By the early Iron Age, rowing had taken over from paddling, allowing for bigger and faster ships. Nor(ð)vegr may have been established as the name of the sea-route at this time, when again aristocratic societies existed in the region. In the Viking Age, northern ships were equipped with sails, permitting voyages across the Atlantic. By then, Norway had become the name of the country, which eventually was united as one kingdom. Thus, the development of the name can be seen as running parallel to three main stages of shipbuilding and to three stages of aristocratic splendour in Scandinavia: the Bronze Age, the early Iron Age, and the Viking Age. Norway, encompassing the western part of the Scandinavian Peninsula, is a land of extremes and natural dynamism hardly equalled anywhere in Europe. Above all, the coast can be singled out as the country’s most striking feature. -

Status for kystblåstjerne Tractema verna i Norge. Blyttia 75: 8-31. Status of Spring squill Tractema verna in Norway. The status of Tractema verna populations in Norway is summarized, based on data from Norwegian herbaria, literature and interviews, and our own investigations mainly in the period 2003–2016. The species is known from three counties along the coast of western Norway: Rogaland (one locality), Sogn og Fjordane (83 localities, 77 of which are intact) and Møre og Romsdal (five intact localities within a rather small area, formerly 15 localities). The current population is estimated to be 250.000 based on counting of flowering plants, and more than 95% is located in Askvoll, Sogn og Fjordane, with additional populations in Solund (3000–5000) and Flora (a few hundreds); while the estimate is 600 plants in Rogaland and 1200 in Møre og Romsdal. There are also earlier reports from Bremanger and Selje in Sogn og Fjordane, but no recent information. Tractema verna prefers a traditionally managed cultural landscape with unfertilized pastures and meadows. Although some previously unknown localities were identified, a population decline is documented. This is caused by changes in land use. Ceased grazing and mowing causes overgrowing, which is the main threat against the populations. The building of houses and roads have also destroyed some populations. Management like grazing and mowing combined with monitoring is necessary to preserve the remaining populations.
