    Prof. (Dr.) Anvita Abbi (Padma Shri) Ph.D. (Cornell University, USA). Formerly Professor of Linguistics Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Borkar Chair, Goa University, Goa Eminent linguist and social scientist, Anvita Abbi has carried out first-hand field research on all six language families of India extending from the Himalayas to the Andaman Islands. She identified the sixth language family of India, viz. Great Andamanic (2003). Her results were later corroborated by the geneticists (2005). She has widely published in the areas of areal typology, language change, language documentation, structures of tribal and minority languages, language policy and education, and analysis of ethno-linguistic aspects of language use. An author and editor of 22 books published nationally and internationally, Prof. Abbi’s work on tribal and other minority languages of South Asia has been exemplary and has bagged several national and international awards including the Padma Shri in 2013 by the President of India and the Kenneth Hale Award in 2015 by the Linguistic Society of America for “outstanding lifetime contributions to the documentation and description of languages of India” and Rashtriya Lok-Bhasha Sammaan in 2003 for her contribution to tribal languages of India. She was nominated as “India Chair’ for Vancouver, BC, Canada by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations in 2016. In the past She has occupied positions of Guest Scientist at the Max Planck Institute of Evolutionary Anthropology at Leipzig, Germany, Leverhulme Professor at SOAS, University of London, England, Distinguished Visiting Fellow at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia, and Visiting Professorships in Heidelberg and Würzburg in Germany and at Simon Fraser University, B.C., Vancouver, Canada.

Akademi is taking April 25, 2017, Vijayawada more responsibility to publish valuable literature in all languages. After that he presented Bhasha Samman to Sri Nagalla Guruprasadarao, Prof. T.R Damodaran and Smt. T.S Saroja Sundararajan. Later the Awardees responded. Sri Nagalla Guruprasadarao expressed his gratitude towards the Akademi for the presentation of the Bhasha Samman. He said that among the old poets Mahakavai Tikkana is his favourite. In his writings one can see the panoramic picture of Telugu Language both in usage and expression. He expressed his thanks to Sivalenka Sambhu Prasad and Narla Venkateswararao for their encouragement. Prof. Damodaran briefed the gathering about the Sourashtra dialect, how it migrated from Gujarat to Tamil Nadu and how the Recipients of Bhasha Samman with the President and Secretary of Sahitya Akademi cultural of the dialect has survived thousands of years. He expressed his gratitude to Sahitya Akademi for Sahitya Akademi organised the presentation of Bhasha honouring his mother tongue, Sourashtra. He said Samman on April 25, 2017 at Siddhartha College of that the Ramayana, Jayadeva Ashtapathi, Bhagavath Arts and Science, Siddhartha Nagar, Vijayawada, Geetha and several books were translated into Andhra Pradesh.   • Children Catalogue 2021
    Introduction The National Book Trust, India, is an autonomous body established by the Government of India (Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education) in the year 1957, to promote books and reading in the country. The Trust has been a pioneer of children’s literature in the post-independent India. Arguably the biggest multi-lingual publisher of books for children in India, the Trust brings out colourful and well-illustrated books for various age groups in 13 major Indian languages including English. In all, we have published books for children in more than 50 Indian languages on an experimental basis. All books for children are published under the series Nehru Bal Pustakalaya. The series aims at creating a treasure-house of enjoyable and informative literature. Books in this series cater to five age-groups, namely, pre-school, 6-8, 8-10, 10-12 and 12-14. Some novellas for the age group 14+ are also published under the series. Under the Nehru Bal Pustakalaya series, a new sub-series Veergatha has been initiated. Veergatha series consists of illustrated books for children of the age-group 10-12, and seeks to introduce to them the great acts of bravery of Param Vir Chakra awardees to instil a sense of inspiration and patriotism. Another sub-series Indian Fiction for Young Adults has been added to Nehru Bal Pustakalaya series. As part of New Education Policy (2020) Implementation Plan, a set of Bilingual books (Hindi-English) has also been added to this series. This annotated catalogue gives detailed information about all titles published for children in English and their available Indian language editions.
