After traversing up and down the many aisles, I came upon a very interesting booth of young, energetic guys who seemed to have an excellent array of bicycle components and accessories. After briefly explaining why our quality was so great, I went directly to the visuals and began tossing our bike baskets all over the floor to show this audience how durable they were. I even dared them to stand on top of one of our baskets- “they are as strong as furniture” I proclaimed. Fast forward one year later and we are more than excited that this “luck of the draw” worked so well for us. Our designers were impressed by the Liix booth at Eurobike 2009 and “ordered us to drink beer together with the guys & girls form Liix. Go there and become friends!”. So, we did… Not only at the Eurobike but also last year in Vegas, where we met coincidentially at the Vegas airport and later had a great evening at the coolest Japanese restaurant in Vegas.

YAKKAY TALKS ABOUT Liix

When we first met Liix – we met a bunch of ”surfer dudes” at a ”Sushi Bar”. That was what Liix´s booth at the interna- tional Eurobike Show looked like in Septem- ber 2009. SUSHI Taking a closer look at the Liix spot we real- ized that the ”sushi plates” at the bar was car- rying all kind of accessories for bicycles – and the ”surfer dudes” happend to be highly pro- fessionel guys. We joined the crowd of customers and Liix people at the booth and felt right away the & nice atmosphere. By looking at the products BY BO FRANCH-MÆRKEDAHL it became clear to us that our products were the perfect match – and absolutely nothing like YAKKAY was in the wide range of excit- ing products. We made a short introduction of the YAK- KAY concept and the whole Liix team were SURFER convinced. After the show we had another meeting at the office of Liix in Cologne to make sure we had the very best tools to plan the future together. Once again it became clear that the mind-set of the team was very professional and we have absolutely no doubt DUDES that YAKKAY has the very best and top-mo- tivated partner to distribute our range of ”BRAINWEAR FOR SMART PEOPLE” all over Germany.

Using design to encourage the use of bicycle helmets Five Danish designers seriously broke with the poor image of the bicycle helmet, when they introduced this unique concept two years ago. They wanted to get cyclists to wear helmets, not through legislation or campaigning, but by solving YAKKAY the problem that makes many people risk their health and lives by biking through the traffic without bicycle helmets, namely the look. BERN TALKS ABOUT Liix

My first Eurobike trade show with Liix Distri- bution last summer had an interesting twist. Shortly before the show, I had a nasty MTB bike accident in the Karwendel area outside of Innsbruck, ending with a 4 day hospital stay. I was able to still limp to the show with six broken ribs and only pieces of shoulder blade and collar bone. The upside is that my Bern Brentwood bike helmet functioned perfectly Liix and kept a golf ball sized rock from finishing my career as a human. After arriving at the show, I was in great care with the Liix crew. In turn (with the help of some pain killers), I was able to provide fresh, real time, testimonial about how well Bern head protection functions. If I was not on my bike than I was behind my drums, as music is another passion of mine. This band, that band, a concert here and concert there. I had a great time, lots of fun and got to see interesting places. Besides drum- ming, I was a DJ – mainly funk and dance music, basi- cally anything as long as people danced! During this time I worked at the local record / CD shop, and my passion for cycling drifted more into the background. Then in 2004, I bought a beach cruiser through E-bay. THE Since then my love for bicycles blossomed again and soon my bike, a Phat Mainstreet was totally revamped with 144 spoke wheels and all the bells and whistles. Just for the fun ... I thought! HISTORY When I cycled through the streets with this bike, every- one called out – “hey, cool bike!” Many people asked me where I bought it and that they themselves would love to have one. The entrepreneur in me saw opportunity and with OF AN my good friend Marco, we got started. Within days, a further friend Paul got involved as well. Paul was the one with the necessary technical experience concerning bikes. UPCOMING In May 2005 the three of us started in a business area in Wateringen, near The Hague. In the beginning we were only open on Friday and Saturday because we all still worked in construction (a man’s got to do, what a man’s got to do!). DRACHEN UND DRAHTESEL CHILL OUT TALKS ABOUT Liix

Eigentlich wollte Richard nur Drachen entwerfen, bau- en und fliegen lassen. Da es in seiner Gegend allerdings kein gutes Drachen-Fachgeschäft gab, schien ihm die Eröffnung eines solchen als logische Konsequenz. Jeden- falls besser als BWL studieren. Aber wie kommen jetzt die Bikes in den Drachenladen, der auf den Namen Chill Out getauft wurde? Das lief so: Man schrieb das Jahr 1993 und auf den Straßen der Re- publik rollten fast nur Mountainbikes rum. Da Richard aber weder in die Berge noch ins Gelände, sondern ein- fach gepflegt durch die Stadt gleiten wollte, organisierte er sich einen Cruiser. Der sorgte dann bei Freunden, Be- kannten und Kunden für so großes Interesse, dass der Drachenladen mit den Drahteseln sein zweites Standbein bekam. Eine gute Entscheidung. Denn nach Richards Ein- schätzung wird das Fahrrad bald schon ein noch größeres Thema sein als es ohnehin schon ist. Er schätzt, dass ver- stärkt Produkte nachgefragt werden, mit denen sich das Rad individualisieren lässt und somit den persönlichen Lifestyle ausdrückt. Deshalb ist Chill Out Kunde bei Liix. CROSSING LINES

We first met Marcel in 2002/03 when he would visit our booth at the Interbike show in Las Vegas shopping for cool products for his Rad- fieber retail store. Since then he has sold Nirve products in Germany and we have watched as he developed Liix into the premier cruiser/ lifestyle parts and accessories distributor in Europe. Recently the paths of our companies have crossed with the opportunity to join forces and have Liix distribute Nirve products for all of Europe making Liix a leader in the category for the European market. We appre- ciate the strengths, experience and energy the Liix team brings to the category.

Liix ASKS NIRVE: What is the speciality about your products? We specialize in making fashion bicycles for cyclists of all types. The bicycles we de- sign make cycling fun for the recreational cyclist so they can also participate in this wonderful sport. At the same time, many serious cyclists own our cruisers which are more convenient than a traditional racing bike for riding around town. Our Galaxie frame with Nirve’s distinctive top tube is recognized as the most fash- ionable cruiser frame in the industry. The design of our top tube was granted U.S. Trademark registration status in 2010. Nirve was formed in Mid 1999 by a small group of ex-GT Bicycles staff members and group of investors led by Milleni- um-Hanson Partners of Beverly Hills and London. LIFESTYLE Originally, at the beginning of the internet revolution, the company sold exclusively through the Nirve website offering Action Sports equipment including BMX, Trail, and Freestyle bicycles as well as Skateboards, Wake boards, Snowboards, and Surfboards. BICYCLES In March of 2001 I joined Nirve as it’s new CEO. We re- NIRVE organized the company into a more traditional business model selling to IBD’s in addition to selling our products direct to consumers through our website. While working at GT-Bicy- cles I was involved with the Dyno cruiser program and always BY DAN BON liked the fun and fashion aspect of cruisers.
