The median income of downtown households increased by 38.4% since 2000, compared to a 2.2% increase for City households. Employees 81,000 workers were employed within the downtown study area in 2010, an increase of 3.8% over the 78,005 employed during 2000. The largest industry sectors for downtown employees are finance and insurance (20.9%), government (18.9%), and professional, scientific and technical services (12.7%).
