With many nations, including Australia, Canada, the UK, the US and recently Israel, at war on more than one front, the importance of effective simula­ tion and training programmes and systems cannot be overestimated. The US Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (OUSD P&R) has been tasked with leading a collaborative effort to harness the power of information technologies to modernise structured learning.
