Math 8/AlgebraHonors Mr. Piscitelli/Mr. Ryan Course Expectations 2017-2018

Dear Students, Welcome to 8th Grade. The following is an outline of your Mathematics Class and will help you have a successful year. Please share this information with your parents.

Materials- The following is a list of materials that must be brought to class every day: 1) Two - 3 subject notebooks 2) One – Big Binder- that will hold the notebooks and workbook 3) Pencils 4) Scientific Calculator 5) Two folders 6) Graph Paper

Grading and Class Structure

All students are responsible for: - Arriving to class on time - Being prepared for class - Positive attitude - Following class and school rules - Taking clear notes - Completing homework on time - Completing class work on time - Making up any missing assignments - Respecting fellow students and all teachers - CELL PHONES ARE NOT ALLOWED IN CLASS. THEY SHOULD BE LEFT IN YOUR LOCKERS

Grading System – A running point system throughout the quarter. The final grade is taken from the amount of points earned by the student divided by the total possible points. Tests- Are given after every chapter or sometimes mid-chapter, depending on its capacity. .

Quizzes- Are given once a chapter. They are on either vocabulary or Mathematical topics.

Homework – Is given every night on the daily topic and checked the next day in class. Students should write their homework in their organizer on Monday’s for the entire week including test and quizzes.

Projects- Are given when applicable.

It is the student’s responsibility to arrange make-ups for any missed tests or quizzes due to absence.
