1 [4662] 1 1 Whereas, nationally, more than seventy-five percent of the FFA 2 members enroll in a two-year or four-year higher education degree 3 program following graduation from high school in preparation for 4 one of the more than three hundred career opportunities, or one of 5 every six jobs in the United States, which includes more than eight 6 thousand job titles; and 7 8 Whereas, corporate leaders in America believe so strongly in the 9 proven success of qualified training through FFA that they jointly 10 contribute more than eight million dollars annually to the National 11 FFA Foundation, of which more than one million two hundred 12 thousand dollars in higher education scholarships are awarded FFA 13 members nationally each year; and 14 15 Whereas, the FFA motto, “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, 16 Earning to Live, and Living to Serve”, epitomizes those high 17 standards and qualities of leadership possessed by FFA members; 18 and 19 20 Whereas, the South Carolina FFA Association and the agricultural 21 education programs in South Carolina are tremendously successful 22 and extremely valuable in improving the quality of life for South 23 Carolinians; and 24 25 Whereas, the South Carolina FFA Association is launching the 26 observance of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the organization 27 during Nation FFA Week, February 16-23, 2002. Now, therefore, 28 29 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 30 concurring: 31 32 That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, 33 commend South Carolina’s FFA members, their advisors, school 34 administrators, parents, and all who support, promote, and 35 encourage these students of agricultural education on the occasion 36 of the launching of the observance and celebration of the 37 seventy-fifth anniversary of the FFA in South Carolina. 38 39 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 40 the appropriate South Carolina FFA officials. 41 ----XX----
