Peer Coaching Plan

The purpose of this Coaching Plan is to give you a framework to develop your coaching programme. A strong Coaching Plan should reflect your skills, knowledge, and the needs of the collaborating teachers and your principal. Complete Part 1 with your principal and Part 2 with teachers you will coach (collaborating teachers). You should complete the plan before Session 2.

Structure Will the coaching be one-on-one or with a team of teachers? Will you be working with a team of teachers at the same grade level or subject matter? Or will you work with a broader range of teachers?

I intend to work with a team of teachers through a whole-school approach (WSA). Collaborating teachers are chosen according to the subject they taught to represent their corresponding department with the advice and consent from their respective department heads. Awareness and orientation is given to the department heads for supervision of the teachers’ outputs and competence.

Collaborating teachers vary in their years of teaching experience and skills in integrating digital technology into their teaching yet they have one thing in common – they have the HEART for teaching. Their commitment is encompassing, their dedication is remarkable, and their performance is commendable. They possess the high degree of professionalism and profound sense of nationalism which made them competent teachers in the Division of Iloilo and the entire DepEd system. They are a group of teachers who are ready to empty their cups for new learning, a bunch of colleagues who have the passion for teaching and who are easy to work with.

Microsoft Peer Coaching Programme 02/06v2 Session 1 HANDOUT CS1a4f.doc 1 Coach Roles and Responsibilities: Describe the major roles and responsibilities you will play as a coach in your school. My main role will be to help these teachers plan and implement lessons that integrate technology. I plan to echo and introduce Project-based Learning (PBL), ICT Continuum, Digital Learning Materials, updates in K-12 Basic Education and ICT integration and resources. The Peer Coaching Programme shall be dubbed as IConnecT.

Resources: What resources will support coaching (for example, release time, training, or extra pay)? Aside from school participation, I plan to present the programme/project to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Duenas thru the Office of the Mayor and the Sangguniang Bayan of the town for the assistance they could extend to the fulfillment of this endeavor.

Together with Mr. Johnas D. Biboso, GFT Peer Teacher, we will the tap the expertise of two ICT teachers, Mr. Roel M. Lamera and Mrs. Melody L. Taypen, who are SEAMEO and Microsoft-trained teachers of the school, respectively. The programme is implemented in the school for pilot testing, yet there is plan to introduce to the whole District of Duenas.

I believe, I will be painstakingly render my time and efforts yet success will be achieved thru commitment and dedication.

Communication: How will you communicate with the principal and staff about the coaching programme?

I plan to meet with the principal to discuss our progress and share my collaboration log once for every month. For the whole team, I intent to meet with them once a week to update on the progress of their activities and to address problems and constraints that may arise within the implementation period. Likewise, I will update the CBE on the progress of our peer coaching program.

I can see it might be a good idea. I've been asked to offer some workshops to the staff on technology, integration. I am not sure how that might fit with my coaching programme.

As a coach, you will work one-on-one or with a group of teachers to help plan and implement standards-based lessons that integrate technology. The Coaching Cycle reflects the process of coaching.

Part 2 of the Coaching Plan will help you and your collaborating teachers think about how you will work together. Start by using the Coaching Goals Planning Worksheet to establish a direction for your coaching work. Use the information in this worksheet to establish a coaching focus and to write a coaching programme goal, then answer the questions listed below. After Session 2, you will list the norms for your coaching meetings.

Our Plan for Working Together Directions

Complete with your collaborating teacher. (If you have not identified a collaborating teacher, you can complete this section at a later date.)

Description

Coaching Write a general goal statement that tells what you want to accomplish and who Programme you will work with for your coaching programme. Make sure it reflects the Goal coaching focus. (Use the Coaching Goals Planning Worksheet, page 1 for help.) Statement I want to help 6th grade teachers plan, implement, and assess standards-based lessons that integrate technology by working with the 6th grade team to increase writing skills.

Measuring Describe some ways you will determine if you are making progress on this goal. Progress Ask teachers I’m working with to do a start-of-year informative writing assessment. Ask teachers how they want to assess student growth in writing skills over the year. Keep some sort of record of the progress the teachers I work with make this year, in their ability to integrate technology.

Time When will you and your collaborating teachers meet (for example, release time, common planning time, after school, etc.)?

In my one period a day, I can meet with some of the teachers. I know that we will talk in the hallway or brief after-school meetings but will still need to work this out. I want to try to use email to share ideas too.
