COMMUNITY
The club sponsored MUNA students (travel) to attend the Canberra event Portsea camp project information has been received and Club members and partners have been asked if they can attend the 11 October weekend Cancer walk in November is once again being supported by the Club. Details of actual date will be sent out soon.
PRESIDENT
Planning has commenced for a past exchange student dinner. More details to follow. Arrangements are being made to complete the Working with Children Check. Hopefully a representative from the Post Office will join us one night and we can do the forms en masse.
MEMBERSHIP Club membership stood at 38. Lisa Rouch has now been inducted as member number 39. Welcome Lisa. 2 more new member applications are being finalised and we hope to induct these people very soon. More prospective members are being progressed by the Membership committee.
FUNDRAISING Our club is acknowledged as the biggest distributor of Cakes and Puddings in Australia. We have now been asked to assist with distribution for District 9790. Well done Rob McQuade for volunteering to manage. Bruce Simcox is investigating a local storage facility, for several pallets.

He reminded us that we all have neighbors, friends, work colleagues, and other people we meet daily that could make great Rotarians. Some examples of classifications not in the club include Doctors, Chemists, and Police.
If we are to remain the strong club we are today, we need to replace the three members recently lost and introduce people who will continue the club into the future.
______Primary Schools Project
The first of the four Primary Schools to receive our $1000.oo matching grant has now completed their project. Parkmore Primary School invites all of our members and partners to the opening of their new Serenity Garden which includes garden boxes, seats, chessboard and native plants. We will be unveiling the Plaque in honour of Past President Alan Coysh with Fay Coysh attending. We would like to have as many members or their partners come along and enjoy afternoon tea with the staff.

After having their 11th child, an Irish couple decided that that was enough, as they couldn't afford a larger house. So the husband went to his doctor and told him that he and his wife didn't want to have any more children. The doctor told him there was a procedure called a vasectomy that would fix the problem but it was expensive. A less costly alternative was to go home, get a large fire-cracker, light it, put it in a beer can, then hold the can up to his ear and count to 10. The husband said to the doctor, "B'Jayzus, I may not be the smartest guy in the world, but I don't see how putting a firework in a beer can next to my ear is going to help me with my problem." "Trust me, it will do the job", said the doctor. So the man went home, lit a cracker and put it in a beer can. He held the can up to his ear and began to count: "1, 2, 3, 4, 5," at which point he paused, and placed the beer can between his legs and continued counting on his other hand.
