From Hockey Alberta:

With Christmas quickly approaching (less than 5 days away now!), I’m reminded of how important our hockey family is, and how much goodness this game brings to my life, and to everyone’s lives, who are lucky enough to be a part of it.

I would very much like to hear about how you, your associations, and your teams, have been spreading some goodness in your communities this year. Last year we heard stories of a Peewee team in Medicine Hat shopping for presents for a family in need, and an Bantam team in Edmonton delivering food for Christmas dinner to a homeless shelter in the city. We saw photos of teams taking their practices to the outdoor rink, teams collecting donations for the Salvation Army, and plenty of team holiday parties of giving and goodness. We were so appreciative of all of your stories last year, we want to hear your stories again! We would very much like to share them with everyone in the province.

If you have some holiday goodness to share about you and your hockey family, please send your stories to us. Whether it through email, or facebook, twitter, or another way, we would love to hear (and see, if you have photos) what your hockey family means to you, and what you are up to this holiday season.

Please Note – We’re wishing to share all of these stories through our social media platforms, and on our website. So, if you do send pictures, it would appear on hockeyalberta.ca.

Email Me at or Tweet Us, Send us a Facebook note! Submit a story through the contact us button on our website! Include team/association names in the story so that we can give a shout out when we do share the stories.

As we try to raise happy, healthy, strong hockey players and community members we need to educate them about the impacts of social media-the good, the bad and the ugly.
