The PLC discussed the following:
Ø Data Review – Explore Form 05B
- We want our students to know that they are allowed to write in the test booklets – to use the booklet as their working document.
- Make better connections with vocabulary to operations and vocabulary to strategies (of means to multiply; ratio – fraction – proportion; circumference and diameter)
- Practice more lengthy problems (maybe during Do Now time), multi-step, scaffolding, tables/graph/data
Ø How we, as math teachers, are addressing Writing
A. Do Nows – more short answer type format and/or in complete sentences – model a good example
B. Open Response – student scoring sample responses and being required to justify score in writing – relevant material to current content
C. Incorporate different means of interpretations such as reading/interpreting graphs/tables/charts/diagrams
D. Task Analysis – only do what your partner tells you to do
Ø IXL – Haley explained student ID numbers and the program.
