Interface with Dr John Zerzan
In tune with its efforts to bring diverse perspectives into the class room, the Institute organized an interactive session with well-known writer and theorist of the anti-civilization green anarchist tendency, Dr John Zerzan on 30th November.During the interface with MSW 1 students, Dr Zerzan outlined how development and civilization have been detrimental to humanity and said “if we have to have a future, it will be a primitive one”. In his own words, “domestication is the process that civilization uses to indoctrinate and control life, and the notion of ownership laid the foundation for social hierarchy”. He blamed development for most human suffering and urged students to stop and take a critical look at the developmental paradigms. For more on ‘Anti-Civilization Anarchist Thought’, please refer the booklet “What is Green Anarchy?” which is kept in our Library.
