Knock, knock who’s there?

Know your rights when a sales agent knocks:

  • It’s ok to say no if you are approached by a sales agent at your door, you don’t have to agree to anything.
  • Check their identity card. By law they must tell you their name, business contact details and why they’re there.
  • Speak to them through a screen door or ask them to return when you have someone with you. If you want them to leave, tell them – they must leave immediately.
  • You do not have to agree toanything on the spot – if youfeel pressured to sign anything,tell the sales agent that youwant time to consider the offer.
  • It’s ok to change your mind– if you agree to buy from adoor to door sales agent butlater decide that the offers notfor you, you can cancel anycontract without reason within10 business days.

Community Meals and Transport

Oh what fun it is to ride on a Community Transport bus Community Meals and Transport held Christmas Lights tours over four nights in December, where over 300 residents attended. They enjoyed a Christmas dinner at Ascot Vale Neighbourhood Centre followed by a tour of magnificent displays of Christmas lights and nativity scenes.

Meals were provided by Community Meals Dining Room Café and transport by Councils Community Transport, with these sessions were supported by our Direct Care staff.

A number of residents called the next day with their positive feedback. Some of the feedback was;

“I just wanted to say I enjoyed myself on the lights tour and the meal was lovely as well can’t wait for next year”

“I just wanted to say thank you for such an amazing night. The staff were great hosts, the meal was really enjoyable and the lights were amazing, they took me back to my childhood memories of Christmas!”
