GLENWOOD HIGH SCHOOL OLD BOYS’ ASSOCIATION

GreetingsOld Boys,

Welcome to 2010, I hope that you have had a fantastic start to the year. There has been a lot of talk about this year both in terms of South Africa hosting the world's biggest sporting event in the Soccer World Cup and also, as importantly for us,it is the centenary year of Glenwood High School.

There is a full calendar of events planned to celebrate this occasion and I refer you to the school website (www.glenwoodhighschool.co.za) to view the details. As part of Glenwood's architectural master plan and vision, several exciting projects have been identified to enhance the existing campus and to ensure that Glenwood maintains its status as a leading boys’ schoolin South Africa. The first of these is the Centenary Gate Project, which is scheduled for completion this year and will see the construction Centenary Courtyard and Gate at the Alan Paton (McDonald) Rd entrance to the School, together with a two storey building (running parallel to the road) that will include a coffee/memorabilia shop, first team match day change rooms (suitable to accommodate international touring teams utilising our fields for practice), Old Boys' Association and medical offices and a supporters lounge and viewing deck. The plans for this project are being drawn up by Old Boy George Elphick and will be displayed at the get-together that has been arranged for later this weekas per details below:

Our sporting fixtures will be against our traditional rivals DHS on Old Boys’ Day.

The full rugby fixtures are also available on the website and it certainly looks to be a busy and exciting year for all the boys. I encourage you to make an effort to support the teams and the Easter Festival at Kearsney will provide an early opportunity to see the First XV in action against some stiff opposition.

I would like to thank all those loyal members who continue to support the Association and encourage you all to take up our membership so that we can do all contribute towards making sure that our school continues to thrive.

The 2010 Centenary ties and OBA Centenary ties are now available for purchase at the School Shop at R135.00 each. Please see the samples on the web page.

Please feel free to email me with any comments or suggestions and we look forward to seeing you at one of our functions in the near future.
