II. Roll Call

III. Approval of minutes from last meeting Monty reinstated the task charged to the SEMC committee, which is to create a working document to fit into a college strategy, planning with other documents to define how we manage enrollment and keep enrollment strong. Today we will continue to narrow our compression of the vision statement for this committee, to extract from the vision statement and establish goals.

Monty reiterated that the task (at this point) is not about actions, it’s what we are doing about enrollment. The committee needs to establish goals and determine who will perform the various tasks. We also need to set perimeters on what details NOT to discuss. Last week we heard from the SWOT committees who brought compression of what they were extracting. Today we will continue to narrow our compression of the vision statement for this committee, to extract from the vision statement and establish goals.

I. Open Issues

Monty drew the following flow chart for the SEMC:

Monty went over the above chart and explained the key areas….that we must have good programs & instructors for more educational opportunities. Make them marketable, accessible, and doable, stating that Institutional Research will be data driven. Monty also outlined the following chart to depict the flow of the SEMC’s vision, goals, and objectives:

We then presented the slide show and had a recap of the SWOT analysis as follows: Suggested EMC Vision Statements

1. El Centro College seeks to develop a comprehensive college wide enrollment management approach that responds to academic, career and personal needs of our community through our programs and services.

2. El Centro College seeks to develop a comprehensive college wide enrollment management approach that transforms our community through student focused programs and services that respond to academic, career and personal needs.

3. El Centro College seeks to develop and communicate an innovative, comprehensive and transformational college wide enrollment management approach that responds to academic, career and personal needs of our community through student focused programs and services.

General consensus agreed upon Vision Statement #3. Committee members were then asked to submit their goals via email, by Wednesday, December 17th.

SEMC Vision Statement

II. New Business The next meeting was scheduled for January 7th, 2015, in room B269. Becky stated that Adrienne and Iris would be present at this meeting to help with the compression of goals into objectives. Some committee members asked if they could submit their objectives with their goals, which Becky said yes, to send in objectives with the goals for those that have them. Some committee member wanted to meet again this coming Friday, December 19, but Becky and Monty stated that it would not be necessary, and that most member may be absent due to the upcoming holidays. For now there are approximately 3 more SEMC meetings before the document is due.

Meeting was adjourned and committee members went to record their video snippets “What SEMC means to me.”
