French II Course Syllabus, 2017-2018

Welcome back to the exciting world of foreign language study! This sheet will inform and remind you of the things we will be doing this semester. Please keep this page in a safe place because it contains information that you will need later.

Classroom activities:

Activities will include speaking, reading, writing and listening. We will use a variety of methods to practice these skills, among them the DVD player, the CD player, computers and IPads, our textbooks, teacher lecture, group activities and games, and written work.

Materials needed:

* 3 ring binder

*4 section dividers

*spiral (optional-to put into notes divider section)

*box of tissues to leave in classroom

*Supplies are due by Friday, August 25th.

Attendance:

Because of the nature of foreign language study, it is important for students to be physically present. Many things simply cannot be made up alone with just a textbook. Please make every effort to be in class! If you must be absent, come see me before or after school or at the beginning of class to find out what you missed. Please schedule any tests and quizzes to be made up as soon as possible. You have 5 school days. Retests for failing grades on tests are expected and encouraged (but studying the first time around is even better J ). You also have 5 days for this. Late work may possibly be turned in for special circumstances with points off. Don’t expect it.

If a student misses a class for any reason, it is his/her responsibility to find out what assignments were missed, to get notes over material covered in class that day from a fellow student and to make arrangements with the teacher to take care of any make-up work resulting from the absence. (from the student handbook)

Classroom Rules:

1. Be on time and in your seat when the bell rings.

2. Have your materials every day.

3. If it is not yours, ask permission before you touch it.

4. Always do your best, even when you don’t feel like it.

5. Participate.

6. Be respectful to your peers and your teacher.

7. Keep phones and headphones put away unless we are using them for an activity. (Cell phones and headphones out/in use at the wrong time will be taken up for the remainder of class.)

PLEASE SIGN AND RETURN 2nd SHEET TO MRS. BEARD by Friday, August 25th
