The mission of the Maryland Hotel & Lodging Association (MH&LA) is to provide advocacy, information, recognition, and networking opportunities that benefit lodging industry owners, managers, associates, related businesses and communities in Maryland.
Board Members support the work of MH&LA and provide mission-based leadership, strategic governance and oversight. While day-to-day operations are led by MH&LA'sPresident & CEO, the Board-CEO relationship is a partnership.
Specific Board Member responsibilities include:
• Reviewing outcomes and metrics to evaluate MH&LA's impact, and regularly measuring performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
• Approving MH&LA’s annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
• Partnering with the CEO and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
• Serving on acommittee or task force and/or taking on special assignments
• Serving as a trusted advisor to the MH&LA President & CEO as MH&LA’s strategic plan is developed and implemented
• Representing MH&LA to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
Board Terms / Participation:
Newly elected Board Members will serve a two-year term (targeted to begin January 2016) and may be re-elected for additional terms. Board members are expected to attend quarterly Board Meetings other MH&LA meetings / events to the greatest extent possible. Service on the Board of Directors is without remuneration.
Election Process & Requirements:
1. Must be a Lodging or Allied Member in good standing.
2. Submit the completed form below.
3. The Nominating Committee will consider all who are interested. Their recommendations will be shared with the full membership in January.
4. Nominees must be elected by members at the Annual Meeting, to be held in conjunction with the Stars of the Industry Awards Luncheon in 2016
