The A.G.M.will be held on the Wednesday 28th March 2018 at Arties Mill, Castlethorpe, Near Brigg, North Lincolnshire. DN20 9LF. Time 7.30 pm. If any member wishes to attend would they please let the secretary know prior to the evening so that we know numbers arriving for catering and also so that you are able to check the venue has not been changed due to unforeseen circumstances.

Membership –ALTHOUGH YOU HAVE RECEIVED THIS SCHEDULE YOU MAY NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO ENTER OUR TRIALS…… This is a polite reminder to ensure that your annual subscriptions of £10.00 are not still due. When subscriptions are coming in throughout the year it puts huge strain on officers to establish those eligible to be entered in our draws. As our data base is updated this season those who have not paid in full for 2017 will be deleted off our list and likewise will no longer receive information in our annual mail shot. ONLY FULLY PAID UP MEMBERS FOR 2017 WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR OUR TRIALS. Can we ask that you check your bank statements and ensure that the correct amount is going from your bank as incorrect subscriptions will be classed as non members

Trials–The Club intends to put as much information regarding our Trialsfor 2017/2018 onto our web site as is possible and also via facebook.Results of the trial draws will be posted onto the web site within a day or so of them being done but if members wish to have a copy posted out to them please send a SAE A5 size with your applications and no draw results will be emailed. Application forms for Trials will be downloadable on our web site.

Return of trophies – Could all members who were successful in our winter trials last year please remember that trophies are required to be returned to the secretary by August 1st 2017 at the very latest. Please can members adhere to this date as ringing and chasing trophies is an extra task which takes time and is not necessary, many thanks.

Members please note if you require further assistance with directions please ring me however I will put information on how to get to each individual trial on the draw sheet. The club wishes all its members a good season and we hope to see some of you as the year progresses.

RULES, REGULATIONS AND GENERAL INFORMATION

FOR BOHGC TRIALS

The Trials will be run under Kennel Club Rules and Field Trial Regulations.

Dogs entered at Kennel Club Licensed Field Trials must be registered at the Kennel Club in accordance with Kennel Club Regulations for Classification and Registration B.

All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the competitor.

If entries or nominations exceed the number of permitted runners, the right to compete in a Trial shall be decided by a draw.

Should circumstances so dictate the Society, in consultation with the judges, may alter arrangements as necessary. Such changes and the circumstances surrounding them will be reported to the Kennel Club.

No modification may be made to the schedule after publication except by permission of the Kennel Club, followed by advertisement in appropriate journals if time permits before the closing of entries.

Judges at a Trial are prohibited from entering a dog which is recorded in their ownership or part ownership.

In case of withdrawals regulation J7f applies at all times.

Substitutions of dogs will be allowed only if dog has required qualifications.

If paying by cheque a separate cheque for EACH ENTRY is required.

All trophies to be held for one year and engraved at the winner’s expense. Returning back to the club secretary is also the responsibility of the winner and the committee would stress we recommend a proof of postage receipt be purchased.

WELFARE OF DOGS

A competitor whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not knowingly put their dogs’ health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. A breach of this Regulation may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.

Your dog is vulnerable and AT RISK if left in a vehicle in high temperatures and even on days considered as slightly warm. Please take care of your dog. If your dog is found to be at risk forcible entry to your vehicle may be necessary without liability for any damage caused.

DEFINITIONS OF STAKES

Open

A Stake in which dogs have the opportunity of gaining a qualification towards the title of Field Trial Champion (K Regulations refer) and towards entry in the Championship or Champion Stake for its breed; in which entry is open to all dogs of a specified breed or breeds except that such Stakes may not be confined to Any Variety Spaniel [except Spaniel (English Springer) and Spaniel (Cocker)]. It may be limited to a prescribed number of runners (J4 refers), in which case these shall be decided by a draw conducted in accordance with Regulation J7.i. so that preference is given to previous performance.

All Aged

A Stake which is open to all dogs of a specified breed or breeds without restriction as to their age, but which may be restricted by any other conditions which may be determined by the society subject to the approval of the General Committee of the Kennel Club.

Novice

Retrievers, Spaniels and Breeds which Hunt, Point and Retrieve: A Stake which is confined to dogs which have not gained a place which would qualify them for first preference in the draw for Open Stakes. Pointers and Setters: A Stake which is confined to dogs which have not gained a First, Second or Third in Open Stakes or First or two Seconds in All Aged, Novice or Puppy Stakes prior to the close of entries.

Puppy.

A Stake which is confined to dogs under the age of two years at the scheduled date of the Stake.

The club also politely request that

……all competitors please adhere to a smart dress code and also if they have been put out of the trial that they stay if at all possible until the end to be part of the thankyou’s and prize giving. If a runner cannot help but leave they must come and tell the bohgc secretary at the trial and hand in their arm bands and again if possible thank the judges before walking from line.

…… all competitors, helpers, judges, and visitor’s to the trial please switch off their mobile phones once the trial is about to commence. Also that all dog waste be picked up and taken home please and not left at the venue of the trial.
