Take the first left, a quiet, and home of Hugh Kennedy, Scottish Captain to meandering, single track road, enjoying wonderful Joan of Arc. A sign & steps on the right lead down Take the track downhill opposite the Garnaburn views of the hill of Knockdolian and back to Ailsa to the wide, well mown grassy path beside the road end. From the gate, cross field to stile, then Craig. After 1 ½ miles, turn left at the T junction - river. Narrower at the end with a fairly steep round edge of the 2 big fields beside the Garna you are now on the old coach road that drops climb through the wood to re-join the road.

We have used the Lottery Development funding to engage an external expert to assist with the development of our bid, and our Accountants and CEIS on developing our business and finance plans. We will also be approaching several Trust funders over the next few months. We have received letters of support from South Ayrshire Council, our 3 local elected councillors, Ballantrae Medical Practice, and community voluntary organisations and would welcome any letters of support from residents.

The 2 x 18 hole courses are only open to visitors on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Old Course One of the great links courses in Scotland, the Old Course is a challenging test of golfing ability. With the wind to contend with, and deep rough interspersed with gorse and broom, accurate shot making is essential. Players should make their scores on the outward nine, as the prevailing north-westerly wind can make the back nine extremely difficult. Portland Course Although a links course, the Portland is a little more sheltered than the Old Course and, of course, shorter. The holes meander through terrain filled with gorse and broom and has a generous helping of Par 3's, five in all. This is tempered with four Par 5's, all of which are on the back nine. Prestwick Golf Club Venue of the first Open Championship in 1860, hickory shafts and a gutty golf ball. Six of the Prestwick Golf Club hosted its 24th and final original greens are still played on today. Open Championship in 1925. The club also hosed 11 Amateur Championships between 1888 and 2001. A stone cairn to the west of the Clubhouse, marks the first tee of the original 12 hole course, on which the first Open was played. Fine silver sands stretching for two miles are protected from the east wind by grassy dunes and access to the beach is by a pathway through one of the golf courses. The mild climate and mile after mile of sandy beaches make the Ayrshire coast one of Scotland’s most popular resort areas.
