We just had our biggest ever away tournament last month with all 108 players making it to play Olivas Links. Great turnout and once again a great a great day to play golf. We are working on replacing the Elkins Ranch date as they are closing the doors to Elkins in a couple months. You have till September to play it for the last time. If we have courses that are already booked that are falling into adverse condi- tions, we will into changing those as well. SCGA is moving ahead as the Playoffs for Team Play will start back up in July. Since we already won our first match, we are looking at early August for our next match to take place. We are still working on our schedule to tweak things and to makeup a couple tournaments that we have had to postpone. One new change this year because of coronavirus is that we will not use a bus for transportation for our annual Bus Trip. We will instead have a Zoom Meeting a couple days before or possibly the night before to do the Calcutta. We will use Venmo to collect and distribute all the winnings for the Calcutta. and CTP’s will all be included in the price which will be less as we are not paying for a bus. You will be able to pay online when you signup or at the tournament as we have been doing lately. Things are changing and the future is looking brighter, but we still need to be cautious as we move for- ward. As we all know, this situation is constantly changing which will require our Club to be flexible in order to comply with new regulations as they are handed down in the future. We are doing our best to navigate this so please bear with us as we move through these challenging times. Always take precautions and protect yourself and your loved ones. Remember that a relapse could shut down our economy again at any time. Let’s be healthy and safe.

3 EDITOR’S COMMENTS

I am loving the freedom that single rider carts is offering. It’s not that I dislike having a buddy share a cart, it’s just a feeling like when you first got your license. “I can go anywhere and do anything!” “I think I’ll sit under that tree over there.” I think to myself. “I’m a little warm I think I’ll drive in circles to cool off. “ Incredibly more efficient as well. Zipping about, not waiting for a co-rider has shown remarkably shorter round times. We played Olivas Links in 2 hours and 50 minutes. Buenaventura in 3:25. Simi in 3:50. The 10 mi- nute spread in tee times is allowing this increase in playing speed. The whole attitude of the game has changed. Spreading out the players means you aren’t con- stantly riding up the group ahead’s asses like bad underwear. I’m even beginning to like bunkers where you don’t have “fresh rakes” perfection. Move the ball out of footprints and you have reasonable shot at making a decent bunker shot. If I could only find the golf game of yore.
