Nicolas Baier was born in 1967 in Montréal, Quebec. His work has been featured in several solo and group exhibitions since first gaining wide recognition in the Biennale de Montreal (2000). He recently had an exhibition entitled, "Pareidolias" at the of Canada.

Rebecca Belmore was born in Upsala, Ontario, and currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 2005, Belmore was selected to represent Canada at the Venice Biennale, making her the first Aboriginal woman to exhibit at the Biennale up until then. She works in sculpture, performance art, installation and video, with a history of exhibitions and performances around the world.

Zadok Ben-David was born in Bayhan, Yemen in 1949 and immigrated to Israel in the same year. He graduated in advanced sculpture from St. Martin's School of Art in London and taught at the same institution from 1977-1982. Ben-David has represented Israel in the Venice Biennale, was commissioned for the Beijing Olympics, and created an iconographic cut out entitled "Tree of Life" for the Yad Vashem in Israel. He works and lives in London.

Julia Bornefeld was born in Kiel, Germany in 1963, but now lives and works in Bruneck, South Tyrol. Major solo exhibitions of the artist in recent years were hosted by Künstlerhaus Göttingen (2008), Kunstverein Pforzheim (2007), Kunstraum Kreuzlingen (2006), Kunstverein Ravensburg and Marburger Kunstverein (2005).

Sean Cavanaugh was born in , where he continues to live and work. The grandson of master painter Milton Avery, Cavanaugh is making a reputation for his fine, lyrical painting in his own right.

Stephen Conroy was born in Scotland in 1964. Since 1989, Conroy's work has gained much recognition and praise in the and Internationally; he exhibits with the Marlborough Gallery in London and New York. The artist has remained in Scotland, where he currently lives and works.

Ken Currie was born in 1960 in North Shields, England. He is a Scottish painter and one of the most influential living artists in Scotland. His paintings are displayed in public and museum collections worldwide.

Marcel Dzama was born in 1974. He attended the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada, where he still lives and works. He helped found the Royal Art Lodge and in 2000, he was presented with the New Artist Award by Art Cologne. Dzama's work is shown throughout North America and internationally, including Berlin, Cologne, Geneva, Venice, and Dusseldorf and is represented by major International Galleries.

Graham Gillmore was born in 1963 in Vancouver, Canada, and currently lives between BC and New York. He has participated in numerous significant group exhibitions and international art fairs in Europe, United States and Canada. The major influences in BC over the past decade have been photography led by Jeff Wall and Roy Arden. Gilmore continues to paint and has stood out for his lush surfaces.

Torrie Groening is a Canadian printmaker and painter living in San Francisco. Groening has exhibited her work in group and solo shows since 1984 in Canada and the U.S. Her work is in several public gallery and museum collections. She recently has a major solo exhibition entited "Torrie Groening: A Maximalist for Dinner" at the Burnaby Art Gallery in Burnaby, BC. David Ireland (August 25, 1930 - May 17, 2009) was an American artist who did not dedicate himself to work as a full-time artist until his 40s. Ireland is most well known for creating site-specific installation art pieces; most notably, his former residence at 500 Capp Street. Ireland is a revered figure in west coast conceptualism and small works of his are rare.

Mary-Jo Lafontaine was born in Belgium in 1950. Her career started in the 1980s, combining tezt and photography in large panel pieces. She is also well established for her museum installations.

John Latham was born in 1921 in Africa; however, he has spent most of his life in London. Both a sculptor and performance artist, his work has been displayed in such major institutions as the Tate Gallery, London; the , New York; as well as la Musee d'Art Moderne in Paris. A critical and contentious figure in British art of the 50s and 60s, Latham was a contemporary and somewhat associated with the Black Mountain College group, including Robert Rauschenberg and John Cage. He was also an early member of the Arts and Language Group in the UK.

Angel Marcos is a Spanish artist who uses photography to project his personal vision of the links between the powers that be, and the realities and desires of the people who inhabit them. A major exhibition of his series "China" was shown at the Museo de Arte Contemporàneo de Castilla y Leon in 2007.

Jorge Mayet is a Cuban born artist who exhibits his work extensively in Spain as well as galleries around the world. His artwork consists of small scale sculptural installations, which are actually replicas of imaginary trees, plants and other natural objects, only miniaturized.

Antonio Murado was born in 1964 in Lugo, Spain, and currently lives and works in New York. His work has shown extensively in art galleries across Europe and around the world, as well as in prominent public buildings, including the seat of the European Parliament in Brussels.

Christina Niederberger was born in Bern, Switzerland in 1961. She holds a PhD and MA Fine Art from Goldsmith College London. Niederberger’s practice explores the spaces and patterns within the multi-dimen- sional surface of the painting by utilizing fur, light and other materials to bring ideas of modernist’s formal and material concerns ad absurdum.

Tom Otterness is an American sculptor who is known primarily as a public artist. Otterness has exhibited in popular exhibitions in locations across the United States and around the world, including New York City, , Beverly Hills, the Hague, Munich, Paris, Valencia and Venice. His studio is located in the Gowanus neighborhood in Brooklyn.

Paul P was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1977. He acquired his BFA from York University, and currently resides in Paris. His art historical palette and old-master techniques are off set by the contemporary objects of desire that inhabit his canvases, and are resolved with a sophistication well beyond his years.

Stella Pace is a Canadian artist living and working in Montréal, Quebec. Her work has been seen at such venues as the Italian Cultural Centre in Montréal, and at the Maison de la Culture Trois-Rivieres.

Matthew Pillsbury was born in Nueilly, France in 1973. He received a MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Pillsbury's photos are among the collections of renowned museums, including the Guggenheim and the . In 2007, Mr. Pillsbury won the prestigious Fondation HSBC pour la Photographie award for the visual acuity of his work. His recent series, "Hours" depicts the interiors of Museums such as the Guggenheim, while the institutions are closed. These works exemplify Pillsbury's ability to create "nocturnal, meditative moments charged with anticipation". Gérard Quenum was born in the coastal town of Porto Novo, the official capital of the Republic of Benin, in 1971. He is part of the latest generation of sophisticated young African artists now breaking out of Africa and demanding wider recognition for their art on the international stage.

The Royal Art Lodge was founded in 1996 by , Marcel Dzama, , Drue Langlois, Jonathan Pylypchuk, and Adrian Williams in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Building on Neo Dada and Fluxus networks of the past, the collective used drawing, dolls, performance and various other mediums to create youthful, tongue and cheek, thought provoking art. The collective disbanded in 2008.

Salustiano, born in 1965, paints using a special pigment - up to sixty layers - from the Cochinilla or Cochineal beetle. Salustiano takes part each year in the international exhibition "The Missing Peace: Artists consider the Dalai Lama", in which his work was featured on the catalogue's cover.

Allison Schulnik was born in San Diego, CA in 1978, and now resides in Los Angeles. Schulnik paints in thick layers, with rich texture and colour. She also works in sculpture and animation, recently exhibiting her video "Forest" at the Mark Moore Gallery in California. She has two upcoming exhibitions in New York; one at Lehmann Maupin Gallery and the other at CANADA, New York.

Max Streicher is a sculptor and installation artist from Alberta, now residing in Toronto. Since 1989 he has worked extensively with inflatable technology in kinetic sculptures and installation works that draw on imagery from literature, mythology, the Bible,and the imagination. In 2005, Streicher had a major exhibition entitled "Mammatus" at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.

Nick and Sheila Pye completed their MFA's at Concordia University in Montreal. Their work has been exhibited internationally at Rare Gallery, New York; Adler Gallery, Frankfurt; Moscow Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow Russia; The Curator's Office, Washington DC; Kasia Kay Art Projects, Chicago; Begona Malone Gallery, Madrid; as well as numerous noted international art fairs such as ARCO, Scope New York, Scope Miami, and DIVA.

Robert Waters was born in 1974 in London, Canada, and raised in the small town of Parkhill in rural Southwestern Ontario. Now living in Spain, Rob’s work is gaining increased recognition all over the world, including Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Japan. His brilliant use of materials, such as the packing tape in Man at Computer, “investigates the human nature and body through themes of male sexuality, violence and mortality“.

Adrian Williams was born in 1974. As one of the founding members of the Royal Art Lodge, Williams works in performance and a variety of media, incorporating found objects with more conventional art supplies. Although the Royal Art Lodge has disbanded, Williams has developed a successful career for himself as an artist and musician. He currently lives in Montréal.

Wendy Wischer is a 2008 recipient of the prestigious South Florida Cultural Consortium's Visual and Media Artists Fellowship and has exhibited throughout the US and abroad. Wischer's work is in several public collections, among them the Miami Art Museum. She lives and works in Miami, Florida.

Bill Woodrow was born near Henley, Oxfordshire, in 1948.
