Horns of Africa Volume One, a new sound which is fusing various type of rhythms with horns and vocalists across the continent and beyond. Horns of Africa’s founders are co-producing soulful sounds, performed by our in-house band;

NathiNice on the decks always has a saxophone close by, Laliboi the multi-talented multi-instrumentalist on the mic and Siphamandla blessed by himself and the most experienced musician in the band. They go for dynamic live performances Jam-packed with collaborations with an illustrious series of artists. Meaning = rural boy aka Siphosenkosi Nkodlwane is a South African lyricist; guitarist and trumpeter that fused his rural Xhosa roots with streetwise township flavour, a multi-talented vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, who in collaboration with renowned producer Spoek Mathambo, has created a unique and vital blend of Hip-Hop/jazz and traditional South African tribal album entitled “Siyangaphi”. —————————————————————— Siphosenkosi has shared the stage and performed with Nick Zinner, Sibot, Gruff Rhys, David Albarn from The Gorillas and had a cameo appearance on Drake’s ‘One Dance’ music video. He has also worked with Sho Madjozi, Moonchild, Ghetts and Muzi. He was part of the revived version of the 50’s South African band called The Woody Wood Packers with Bra Boy (surviving member) under the legendary late trumpeter Johnny Mekoa’s Jazz Orchestra. —————————————— LaliBoi speaks enthusiastically about his sound, drawing on the intricacies of township life. As well as playing guitar, Saxophone and trumpet, LaliBoi now uses his lyrics and voice as one more instrument on Horns of Africa diverse array of beats. @HOAtheband —————— Of Jamaican origin DJ NathiNice started in the music business at 16 years old, making small to medium size local events promoting local artists. He also was the co-founder of Genius marketing /Genius DJ’s, a company using mixtapes to promote brands as well as local artists. He has worked with great established international artists like Cat Coore from Third World, Fantan Mojah, Buju Banton, Half Pint and DJ Whoo Kid. —————————————————————— Has a passion for the rhythms of Africa and more specifically merging different styles of music, especially African rhythms with horns! Inspired by the GREAT Fela Ransome Kuti and the likes of Miles Davis as well as collaborations like Guru's Jazzmatazz and many others. He now aims to create a unique sound that will surpass the test of time! —————————————— After spending years in the corporate space to finance his process of repatriation to Africa. He is now back with hart and soul on the front line of the music business, Nkosinathi Roy Bernard aka NathiNice is the CEO of Horns of Africa Records, Co-Producer of the Horns of Africa Volume 1 as well as the DJ and upcoming Musician in HOA THE BAND. His often referred to in the studio as the @HOAtheband young FELA or the Melody Factory!!! —————— A -born self-taught trumpetist, who grew up between two worlds: his family’s deep ties to afro-jazz music and the years he spent soaking up music in Swaziland. His old-time trumpet- picking skills with his great friend Bhekisipho Twala, deft arrangements, and song writing abilities have landed him in the spotlight in and across the world, garnering critical acclaim from outlets such as Gallo, BBC African Music, and so on. —————————————————————— He eventually met two South African legends Hugh Masekela and Tshepo Tshola, whom were both so impressed with his performance that Bra Hugh invited him over a “cuppa” and at that meeting gave him his Flugelhorn, as a token of Spha’s musical talent. In 1996, Tshepo Tshola told him that his musical chops reminded him of Sankomota and asked Sipha to join his band. —————————————— Later on, his debut album “Jam Shack” was born and later nominated for Best Instrumental Music for the 2008 SAMA awards. Since then, he has gone on to record with many South African musicians including the late Jabu Khanyile, Thandiswa Mazwai, Stimela, to name but a few.
