  • 2020 Eddie and Jared's Sports Packet.Pdf
2020 Eddie and Jared’s Sports Packet Written by Edward Fuhrer, Jared Carson and with one tossup contributed by Josh Rubel 1. One hockey player from this country who dominated its domestic league in the 1970s and 1980s contract was too expensive to be bought by the New York Islanders, and his son ended up being a 4th round pick in the 2010 NHL Draft to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Another player from this country was the youngest player on Team Europe in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey by almost three years. Other than (*) Tom Kuhnhackl and Tobias Reider, other players from this country include Marcel Goc and Marko Strum, who led this country to a silver medal in the 2018 Winter Olympics. The leading scorer in the 2019-20 NHL season, Leon Draisaitl, was from, for ten points, what country where domestic teams play in cities like Munich and Berlin. ANSWER: Federal Republic of Germany [ACCEPT: West or East Germany, or Bundesrepublik Deutschland] (EF) 2. This trade sent running back Darrin Nelson to the San Diego Chargers, however, he would re-sign with one of the teams in this trade. This trade allowed for one team to draft wide receiver Jake Reed, who would put up a total of almost seven thousand total yards and 36 touchdowns. This trade saw a total of 18 total players being traded, making this an NFL record. As a result of this trade, one team used one of their first-round picks (*) acquired in the trade haul and trade up with the Pittsburgh Steelers to select future Hall of Famer, running back Emmitt Smith, allowing him to kickstart an NFL dynasty in the 1990s.

  • Annual Intellectual Property Report to Congress
ANNUAL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY REPORT TO CONGRESS March 2020 * * * UNITED STATES INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ENFORCEMENT COORDINATOR IPEC ANNUAL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY REPORT TO CONGRESS: This report is submitted pursuant to 15 U.S.C. §8114. During the past three years, President Trump and his Administration have worked to promote strong intellectual property rights protection and enforcement, both domestically and abroad. As part of an integrated approach, the Trump Administration views our intellectual property strategy, policy and enforcement efforts, together, as key to helping secure the future of our innovative economy and to maintaining our competitive advantage. The Trump Administration’s Annual Intellectual Property Report to Congress, developed by the Office of the U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator, brings together the combined and coordinated efforts of the White House, the Departments of Commerce, Justice, Homeland Security, State, Treasury, Defense, Health and Human Services, and Agriculture, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and the U.S. Copyright Office. This report was originally mandated to be submitted by the U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator over a decade ago by the Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act of 2008, and builds upon that framework to provide an overview of the Trump Administration’s intellectual property enforcement strategy and policy efforts. For the United States’ approach to intellectual property and innovation policy to be successful, it must continue to be a combined effort that includes all branches of government, the private sector, and our international partners. The Trump Administration continues to build on past strategic efforts in all areas of intellectual property policy, including patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets, both domestically and abroad.

THOSE “DAMN” WOMEN: A CONTENT ANALYSIS OF MALE AND FEMALE PLAY- BY-PLAY DIALOGUES WITHIN THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE A THESIS SUBMITTED TO THE GRADUATE SCHOOL IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE MASTER OF ARTS BY TYLER BRADFIELD DR. DOM CARISTI – ADVISOR BALL STATE UNIVERSITY MUNCIE, INDIANA MAY 2019 THOSE “DAMN” WOMEN 1 ABSTRACT THESIS PROJECT: Those “Damn” Women: A Content Analysis of Male and Female Play-by- Play Dialogues within the National Football League STUDENT: Tyler Bradfield DEGREE: Master of Arts COLLEGE: Communication, Information, and Media DATE: May 2019 PAGES: 130 This study presents a quantitative analysis of the dialogues from four primetime national television play-by-play broadcasters within the NFL. In 2017, Beth Mowins became the first woman in the history of the NFL to step into a primetime national television booth. Mowins called the second opening-week ESPN Monday Night Football game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Denver Broncos on September 11, 2017. After the telecast, Mowins was met with an outcry of complaints from fans on social media. Many of the remarks were steeped in sexism. This study examines the root of those complaints, while using Impression Formation Theory as the guiding framework. Through a content analysis, four of the NFL’s primetime television announcers (Jim Nantz, Al Michaels, Joe Buck, and Beth Mowins) are tested through 10 variables. Those variables include the handling of scoring plays, the frequency of corrections, bias, historical knowledge, NFL rules knowledge, terminology, questions to their analyst, airtime, access, and statistical use. Tested through chi-squared (also written χ2 test) and Fisher’s exact test, this study shows there is little to no difference in the language use between Mowins and the three male broadcasters within these 10 variables.
