I am delighted that this edition is also being made available in a multi-lingual format. This development is a timely reflection of the rich diversity in modern Irish Society and the accessibility of this Directory to non-English speakers is very much to be welcomed. I would like to take this opportunity, once again, to thank all of you who are involved in the delivery of services to individuals, families and communities. Your dedication and commitment makes a difference. Finally, I would like to congratulate those involved with the Community Outreach Drugs Awareness Project in providing us with up to date information so that we can keep in touch and work together. Well done! Cllr. Jim Corr Chairperson Cork Local Drugs Task Force Floor 1, Kinvara House, Dublin Hill, Cork. This project acknowledges the need for a collective community response to the issue of drug prevention. The objective of the project is to encourage and support community involvement in drug prevention strategies at local level and city-wide through a range of approaches including education & training, awareness raising, intervention, information sharing and capacity building. In its Local Development Social Inclusion Plan 2000 – 2006, Comhar Chathair Chorcaí Teo has stated its commitment to the maintenance of an up to date directory of drug and alcohol related services as an important awareness raising action in this regard. This Directory demonstrates the significant development of drug and alcohol services in Cork and surrounds as a result of the action plans of the Cork Local Drugs Task Force and Southern Regional Drugs Task Force. It also demonstrates the level of community involvement and the commitment of communities in tackling the drug problem and this is to be commended. We are grateful to Pobal for supporting the funding of this directory in both an English and multi-lingual format, both of which are available in hard copy and on-line. I am delighted that the Directory is now available in five languages; Russian, Polish, Arabic, French and English. It is my hope that this Directory will contribute to the development of a collective response between communities and also that it will serve to support the work being done by groups across Cork in tackling the drugs issue. Congratulations to all the groups and projects listed in this Directory. Maurice MacCarthy Chairman Comhar Chathair Chorcaí Teo (Cork City Partnership Ltd.)
