    AREA PROFILE FOR TOWN DUNMANWAY CO. CORK AGE/SEX In April 2011 Dunmanway had a population of 1,585, consisting of 779 males and 806 females. The population of pre-school age (0-4) was 112, of primary school going age (5-12) was 190 and of secondary school going age (13-18) was 118. There were 247 persons aged 65 years and over. The number of persons aged 18 years or over was 1,180. MARITAL STATUS Of the 1,244 persons aged 15 years and over, 515 were single, 533 were married, 44 were separated, 59 were divorced and 93 were widowed. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS There were 660 private households in Dunmanway in April 2011, of which 224 were single person households. Of the 424 families in the area, 121 were couples with no children. The average number of children per family was 1.4 compared with 1.4 nationally. Cork City is a City Rising. Retail units are opening for business in the €50m Capitol retail and office complex. Work has started on the €90 million Navigation House office development on Albert Quay and over the summer, Cork City Council agreed the sale of 7-9 Parnell Place and 1-2 Deane Street to Tetrarch Capital who propose to build a budget boutique hotel and designer hostel with ground floor restaurants and bars. Earlier this year, Boole House was handed over to UCC and also over the summer, the Presentation Sisters opened Nano Nagle Place on Douglas Street. This is all progress. Our strategy at Cork City Council has been to deliver for the Cork region through a revitalised, vibrant city centre – to our mind, the city centre is the ‘healthy heart’ of Cork.

For the second year in a row, Foróige's St. Joseph's Youth Programme Mayfield have successfully completed an Intercultural Exchange with Hong Kong, funded through Foróige and EIL. Ten young people from the communities of Mayfield, the Glen, Glanmire and Mahon, as well as their three leaders, travelled to Hong Kong in August to gain an intercultural learning experience. The young people got the opportunity to visit many exciting well known Hong Kong landmarks as well as carrying out pieces of Charity Work. Our young people facilitated a presentation to the Hong Kong Government showcasing what life is like for young people in Ireland as well as their role as foróige ambassadors in their community.
