The original CorkLadies’Football 9 Northside Folklore Project has now evolved into The Cork Loafers:ReJectionsonCork’sFirstGayBar 10-11 Folklore Project . This better reflects the breath of our collective ImagesofAnimalsandDarkness 12-13 material and focus, and makes it clearer who we are to the online SoundExcerpts 14-15 world. Statement by Tom Hales, Knocknacurra, Bandon, Co. Cork. Dated Undated. On National Activities 1907 - 1913. Ballinadee Coy. I.V., 1914 - 1916. - 5 pp. - Typescript F'scap. File S.289. STATEMENT OF TOM HALES, KNOCKACURRA, BANDON, CO. CORK. PERIOD: 1907 to early 1917. PRINCIPAL UNIT: BALLINADEE C0MPAMY, I.V. Ballinadee Company was the first Unit of Irish Volunteers to be organised in West Cork. At all times up to Easter, 1916, it was the leading Company in strength, in arms, in discipline and in organisation. At the same time that its officers were perfecting their own organisation they took the lead in building up and. developing other Volunteer Companies in neighbouring districts, and their example and leader ship were mainly responsible for the formation of many Companies from Ballinhassig to Clonakilty and from Kilbrittan to Belliaeen. To Ballinadee all these Companies looked for guidance and help with the problems of their formative period, as well as for assistance in their training. The men of Ballinadee who gave such an inspiring lead to West Cork were animated by the traditional Fenian spirit and doctrine, which had been handed down to us by my father, Robert Hales, and other older men from 1900 onwards. The spirit of the Land League days lived on in the district and it was revived in 1907 when the fight against the local landlords reached peak point. In that year attempted seizures of cattle by the Sherriff were an every-day occurrence.

25 Years Serving the Local Community Mayfield Matter s Mayfield Community Training Centre FREE COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER, HIGHLIGHTING LOCAL NEWS St. Joseph’s Community Association ISSUE 64: Oct/Nov 2012 On 6th November, Mayfield Community Training Centre had an open day to celebrate 25 years of serv- Mayfield Banks Respond to Community Fears We return to the story of the two impending Bank closures planned for Mayfield. There is a palpable disappointment and resentment in the air all around the locality at the decisions taken by senior management at PTSB and AIB in this regard. Given the massive debts run up by our Banks during the “Celtic Tiger” years, these closures are not unexpected, though neither are they desirable. When Mayfield Matters contacted the Permanent Trustee Savings Bank (PTSB) for a comment, we were re-directed to its website. This offered nothing by way of apology to us in Mayfield, and indeed, lest we think that our branch is the only one for the chop, there will be fifteen other closures nationwide as well. Its version of good news is that; “There will be absolutely no change to your existing account(s) and all your account details will stay exactly the same”. If you have a PTSB account in Mayfield, you are directed to go to its North Main Street branch now, apparently for your convenience. The Credit Unions The picture with AIB is much clearer. Its local manager stressed that AIB has been building close links with the Post Office network for several years, seeking to share elements of its services with An Post.

Seagull Scene SSE Airtricity League First Division Season 2021 Vol. 37 No. 3 WELCOME TO THE CARLISLE BRAY WANDERERS FC I would like to welcome Colin Healy and his Cork City team and club officials to the Carlisle Grounds for this ROLL OF HONOUR evening’s encounter. FAI Cup Winners (2) Both teams lie in the bottom half of the table going into this game. Wanderers have drawn four and lost once 1990, 1999 while Cork have lost their last four league games. First Division Champions (3) Wanderers have had a bit of an injury crisis so far, 1985/86, 1995/96, 1999/00 particularly amongst the forwards, where Gary Shaw First Division runners-up (2) and Darragh Lynch have both been missed. Lynch has yet to feature this season. 1990/91, 1997/98 On the plus side it was great to see Charlie Gallagher Shield Winners (1) make his first team debut in Cobh last week. Charlie is 1995/96 the latest player to come through the Academy ranks at Bray to play for the first team. Charlie was top scorer for National League B Division Champions (2) the under 17s last season. 1991/92, 1998/99 Our Academy teams returned to training this week in Enda McGuill Cup (1) preparation for the season. Only teams up to under 18 2005 can train now so the under 19s must wait a bit longer to resume training. FAI Intermediate Cup Winners (2) 1955/56, 1957/58 The viewing figures for the live streaming service of Bray Wanderers two home games so far this season FAI Junior Cup Winners (2) have been quite good.
