Mad Science will be back again this summer with another programme of exciting day camps!

We will be visiting fourteen locations across Northwest , with an entirely new set of hands-on experiments, whizz bang demonstrations and crazy topics to discover!

Each day at camp this summer will consist of two exciting topics:

MANIC MACHINES! SLEUTHS ON THE SCENE!

Morning - MANIC MACHINES: Watch teams of elementary-age engineers Morning - DETECTIVE SCIENCE: Discover how science is used to solve working together with pulleys and levers. Children will have so much fun real crimes! Watch as the classroom is transformed into a crime lab for this problem-solving, designing and testing just like real engineers, they’ll forget exciting exploration of the fundamentals of forensics. It's so much fun, it's that they’re learning! criminal!

Afternoon - SCIENCE OF TOYS: Children will discover the science behind Afternoon - MOVIE EFFECTS: Grab your popcorn but don't sit back! We're some of their favorite toys in this fun-packed program! Children aren’t the going to learn first-hand how advances in science and technology are only ones with the energy to play, their toys are packed with it, too! This behind our favorite special effects! 3, 2, 1… Science in Action! explains yo-yo tricks, the amazing “String Thing,” and much more! WACKY WEATHER! BUGS & BEYOND!

Morning - WACKY WEATHER: Discover how hurricanes, tornadoes, and Morning - BUGS: Students will explore the world's most abundant animal! thunderstorms develop, and how powerful they can be! Our junior Insect defenses and their role in our ecosystems will be explored in fun, meteorologists will be making more reliable forecasts than the local news. hands-on activities that introduce children to these fascinating creatures! Just ask students to consult their personal UV detectors to check whether it’s time to cover up! Afternoon - KITCHEN CHEMISTRY: Cooking is all about chemistry! Students will be introduced to the laboratory that we call a kitchen for a look Afternoon - EARTHWORKS: Take a voyage to the center of the Earth! We'll at some novel and practical applications of science! Children will build their investigate the powerful processes that shape the planet and form own Solar Cooker and learn how living organisms cause bread to rise. remarkable rocks, magnificent minerals, and glittering gems! Dinnertime will never be the same! JUNIOR ENGINEERS!

Morning - CONSTRUCTION: Find out all about structures and architecture, and build your own bridges, towers and castles. Explore the excitement found in creating your own designs and making them a reality!

Afternoon - DESTRUCTION: Discover how to make structures that can withstand earthquakes or tidal waves and test these with our Mad Science air powered rocket launcher

BOOKING AND CANCELLATION PROCEDURE To secure a place, you will need to complete our booking form and return it to us with a cheque. Alternatively, you can register online or by phone and pay by debit or credit card. If you need to cancel your child's place, you will receive a refund providing it is more than 10 days from the course start date. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS • Mad Science reserves the right to cancel any holiday club if less than 10 children are registered. In the event of cancellation, we will offer the option of an alternative date/time or a full refund. • Mad Science reserves the right to exclude any child who is disruptive to the extent that it affects the safe running of the session. • A confirmation email will be sent to you once a booking form and payment has been received. • Whilst every effort is made to ensure the club runs as advertised, Mad Science reserves the right to change the content of a session or topic without any prior notice. • Where any child or parent/guardian of a child has a complaint about any aspect of the course, he/she should address the matter immediately in writing to the relevant Branch Manager. Our aim is always to ensure we deliver high quality sessions. When we are aware of the problem, we will endeavor to rectify it immediately. No recompense can be considered for any issue which was not brought to our attention at a time when it was possible to rectify. • It is essential that incident reports are signed by parents on collection their child. • We advise against bringing mobile phones because of risk of damage or loss. Parents will be given a number of the camp leader should they need to contact their child. • The ratio of adults to children is typically 1:8. • All of our camps are covered by public liability insurance and all of our staff are CRB checked. • We are required to keep a record of any medication administered whilst in attendance and you must inform us in writing if any medication is required to be administered. • We are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our children so they can participate in fun learning sessions in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at our camps. If bullying does occur, all children should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively. Anyone who knows that bullying is happening is expected to tell the Mad Scientists.
