Directory 2019-2022 Directory 2019-2022 HOLY TRINITY PROVINCE KARNATAKA, INDIA DIRECTORY 2019-2022 PUBLISHED BY BR JOHN ALWYN DIAS OFM Cap. PROVINCIAL MINISTER 1 Directory 2019-2022 FOREWORD The God of the Bible is the God who communicates with the human being. As Johannes Henrici points out: “Communication is deeply rooted in God’s nature and it is this nature he imparted to humanity when he created us in his own image.” Communication is a God-given capability given to the created human being and is “the only way to be fully human.” In principle, to be a human is to be a communicator. As his followers the Lord Jesus has commissioned us to be His communicators. Our task is to communicate the good news about Jesus Christ in every way possible to each human being. So as to be profound in being holistic person filled with knowledge and wisdom we are to be updated, informed and transformed according to the signs that God reveals to us in our present times. Hence in keeping abreast of the fraternal functions and modality we have to communicate and widen our horizon to enrich our lives. Therefore I am glad to have the opportunity to place before you the new Directory of the Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka which is long overdue — and now it is ready at hand. As we know, of recent days there have been many developments in the society as well as in our Province. There have been a lot of efforts put in to invigorate our missions and strengthen our fraternities. St Francis of Assisi, our Founder and Patron never remained aloof from the realities of life. He listened to God’s voice speaking through the nature. As Word made flesh in Jesus, our perfect communicator, we all are called to be the communicators of God’s tender love. Hence, I greatly wish that this Directory may become handy as ready- reckoner for the information regarding our Province and the friars. It is my hope and expectation that this Directory will provide you necessary details of all the friars and fraternities. May the usage of this Directory enhance our brotherly communication with each other and deepen our nexus. “Pace é Bene” Br John Alwyn Dias OFM Cap. • What Is a Capuchin Friar? What Do They Do? Who Are They?
what is a capuchin friar? what do they do? who are they? an introduction to the Exactly 257 years ago before anyone knew Capuchin Friars about capuchin monkeys (so named in 1758), there were Capuchin friars. It was more than 400 years after Capuchin friars came into existence in 1528 that anyone tasted a cup of cappuccino (first served in 1948). As for friar’s, no, they aren’t fryers, but some of them do prefer theirs fried, rather than baked or grilled. The ‘hood’? It’s all in the name. The brotherhood is found in all kinds of neighbourhoods, hoods and all. Even if you have known Capuchin friars for a long time, it wouldn’t be surprising if you found them somewhat mysterious. The Catholic Church has many religious Orders and communities of men. So what makes Capuchins different? Aren’t they Franciscans? And how are they different from Diocesan priests? It can all be confusing even for those well versed in Catholic life. Maybe you can recognize a Capuchin because of the curious, medieval clothing he wears, but you might wonder what makes him tick on the inside. Come to think about it, why do they wear that robe? And you might ask why anyone would want to be a Capuchin friar in this day and age? Is there a point to a bunch of men living together? Why don’t they get married like other people? And then there’s the money thing? Like everyone else they need it, but they take a vow of poverty.

Dry land farming in India accounts for 63% of the cultivated land of 144 million hectares. Different types of problems which are related to watershed like depletion in water table, depletion of sources, scarcity of water, floods, reduction in water carrying capacity of streams are the biggest challenge to an engineer. The main intension is to utilize the water resources of that particular area. Mapping is done using satellite images by remote sensing technique. The data which is used for the project work is of LISS-4 type. The topographical sheets and geological maps Gurupura river (D43U13) are used and processed using ArcGIS and ERDAS softwares. Special attention was paid to rich vegetation area and average vegetation area to know the ground water. The drainage maps, base maps, geology maps and geomorphology maps were prepared in ArcGIS. And the satellite images were processed to produce the different color combinations using ERDAS softwares. The land use and land cover map is prepared using satellite data which offers new opportunity for planning, design and management of water resources of the study area. The watershed management project will utilize the complete water resources of the study area.
