2017 FACT SHEET Event: PowerShares QQQ Championship The PowerShares QQQ Championship is the second of three season-ending events in the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs. The top 54 PGA TOUR Champions players in the Charles Schwab Cup standings will qualify for the event at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California, held October 27-29, 2017. The top 36 will move on to the Charles Schwab Cup Championship (Phoenix, AZ) where the season will culminate with the crowning of the Charles Schwab Cup champion. A charitably-driven event, the PowerShares QQQ Championship offers fans the opportunity to “Buy Now, Give Back” to local charities. With every ticket purchased, another ticket is donated to Sherwood Cares Foundation to distribute to charities within the area. The Sherwood Cares Foundation serves as the event’s Official Charity Partner, with proceeds from the tournament also benefitting the First Tee of Los Angeles. The winner will be crowned at the third and final playoff event : the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. The Charles Schwab Cup offers $2.1 million in annuity bonus money to the top-five finishers at season's end. The winner will be awarded a $1 million annuity and the second-through fifth-place finishers $500,000, $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 annuities. Allen Doyle won the inaugural competition in 2001, Hale Irwin won in 2002 and 2004, Tom Watson won in 2003 and 2005, Jay Haas won in 2006 and 2008, Loren Roberts won the Cup in 2007 and 2009, while Tom Lehman took home the Cup in 2011 and 2012. Bernhard Langer won in 2010 and is the reigning Cup holder after winning in 2014, 2015 and 2016. The Sherwood Country Club Charitable Foundation ( Sherwood Cares ) was established as a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization in 2013. Our mission statement, "Serving children and families in our community by supporting programs that address educational, medical, nutrition and safety needs", gives us direction in the selection of charities that we consider for grant awards. During our first three grant cycles over the last year and a half, the Foundation granted $150,000 to fourteen deserving local charities. Through the generosity of our members we are able to show how much Sherwood Cares. The First Tee of Los Angeles is a youth development charity organization with the mission to “positively impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.” The First Tee of Los Angeles reaches out to you youth ages 6-17, targeting communities where golf is traditionally not found. Students enrolled in The First Tee of Los Angeles participate in a structured curriculum that introduces them to the Nine Core Values (Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Courtesy, Perseverance, Confidence, Responsibility, Judgment) and Healthy Habits that can be used both on and off the golf course. Through its partnerships with the Los Angeles Unified School District, Beyond the Bell, local Boys & Girls Clubs, The Salvation Army, Girls Inc. and 12 golf courses across Los Angeles County, The First Tee of Los Angeles currently impacts over 92,000 young people.
