Clinton, 42nd President of the United States, is scheduled to take part in the eighth annual Hyundai Team Matches golf tournament on November 15 at The Golf Links at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort & Spa in Dana Point, Calif. Clinton will join 96 amateur participants and 24 professional golfers in the 9:00 a.m. shotgun start of the proam portion of the threeday event. The Hyundai Team Matches golf tournament is sponsored by Hyundai Motor America. The first part of the Team Matches event is a proam round that brings Hyundai dealers and event sponsors together with professional golfers from the PGA, LPGA and Senior PGA tours. “It’s a distinct honor for Hyundai to host former President Clinton at the Hyundai Team Matches golf tournament,” said Finbarr O’Neill, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor America. “It adds even more excitement to an alreadypopular and successful event that golf fans look forward to every year.” On November 16 and 17, professional golfers will duel for $1.2 million in prize money in two rounds of match play. Four teams of two will represent each of the professional circuits and each winner will take home a brand new 2003 Hyundai XG 350 sedan in addition to prize money. This year’s Team Matches tournament will feature all six of last year’s winners including Fred Couples and Mark Calcavecchia from the PGA Tour, Allen Doyle and Dana Quigley from the Senior Tour, and Lorie Kane and Janice Moodie from the LPGA Tour. Recent PGA Championship winner Rich Beem and stars such as Peter Leonard, Dottie Pepper, Grace Park, Beth Bauer, Jim Thorpe, Peter Jacobsen and many more will challenge each other for this year’s title. Last year’s event drew more than 13,000 spectators. Golf fans interested in attending this year’s tournament can call Ticketmaster for tickets.
