Photocopies, photographs. 1977.34.6 COLLECTION NOTE This collection consists of photocopies of materials relating to an investigation into the assassination of Czar Nicholas II of Russia and his family on 17 July 1918 at the Ipatiev House in Yekaterinburg (Ekaterinburg), Russia. The materials are typescripted English translations, and document the work of court investigator Nikolai Sokolov. Included are interviews and examinations of witnesses, reports on examination of evidence, and official communications. The pages in each folder are numbered consecutively at the top and bottom, but the top sequence differs from the bottom so the original order of the sections cannot be precisely determined. Also included are 12 photographs, which have been transferred to the Kentucky Library Research Collections. The second item in this collection consists of a photocopy of a ledger containing additional records written in Russian and related to the investigation. Included are correspondence, reports, and examination of witnesses. These do not duplicate the English materials above. An English translation of the table of contents is included.
