Introduction and Context Introduction 1.1 Warwick District Council is one of five district and borough councils within the county of Warwickshire. The district covers four towns; Leamington Spa, Warwick, Kenilworth and Whitnash, and numerous villages. The population served is almost 140,000. 1.2 In April 2012 the Council appointed Neil Allen Associates (NAA) to support them with delivering their vision of developing a long term strategy for the provision of indoor and built sports facilities within the district. The strategy will be used to guide the future provision and management of both new and existing indoor sports facilities in Warwick District in the context of national and regional policy and local sports development needs. 1.3 At the time of the NAA appointment a study of playing pitches was well-advanced by the Council and there was a desire for the indoor strategy to complement the emerging playing pitches strategy, in order to develop an overall strategy for indoor and outdoor sport across the district. This work subsequently stalled and has been picked up additionally by NAA as part of the process, thus ensuring an integrated approach will be developed. -
December 2019 As We Approach the Christmas Break, Students Are Continuing to Work Hard in Lessons
December 2019 As we approach the Christmas break, students are continuing to work hard in lessons. Year 11 students have just completed their first round of mock exams and will receive their results on their Mock Results Day on Tuesday 7th January 2020. In addition, we look forward to discussing their results with parents on Monday 13th January 2020 at the Year 11 Parents’ Evening. Our Year 13 students have also completed their mock exams and will receive their results in one to one interviews with Miss Murray (Head of Post-16). Many Year 13 students are currently in the process of applying for University and are anxiously waiting for their offers to come in. I have been very impressed with how well our Year 7 students have settled in to life at Aldercar High School. They have quite clearly risen to the many challenges that their first term at Secondary School has thrown at them. To celebrate the end of the Autumn Term, on Friday 20th December we will be: having Christmas dinner (at a cost of £2.40); giving students the opportunity to wear Christmas colours or a Christmas jumper for non-uniform day (for a donation of £1); finishing the term at 1.45pm (if your child needs to stay on the school site until 2.45pm, please contact pupil reception by Thursday 19th December and we will arrange for them to be supervised). We look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Monday 6th January, at 8:20am. With regards to staffing, we are saying farewell to Mrs Wolverson who is our Catering Manager. -
Strode College
REPORT FROM THE INSPECTORATE Strode College February 1994 THE FURTHER EDUCATION FUNDING COUNCIL THE FURTHER EDUCATION FUNDING COUNCIL The Further Education Funding Council (FEFC) has a statutory duty to ensure that there are satisfactory arrangements to assess the quality of provision in the further education sector. It discharges the duty in part through its inspectorate, which reports on each college in the sector every four years. The Council’s inspectorate also assesses and reports on a national basis on specific curriculum areas and advises the Council’s quality assessment committee. College inspections involve both full-time inspectors and registered part- time inspectors who have specialist knowledge and experience in the areas they inspect. Inspection teams normally include at least one member from outside the world of education and a nominated member of staff from the college being inspected. GRADE DESCRIPTORS The procedures for assessing quality are described in Council Circular 93/28. In the course of inspecting colleges, inspectors assess the strengths and weaknesses of each aspect of provision they inspect. Assessments are set out in their reports. They also summarise their judgements on the balance between strengths and weaknesses using a five-point scale. Each grade on the scale has the following descriptor: • grade 1 – provision which has many strengths and very few weaknesses • grade 2 – provision in which the strengths clearly outweigh the weaknesses • grade 3 – provision with a balance of strengths and weaknesses • -
