And the music industry and his friends and family have been mourning his loss. Walter Williams, Sr., co-founder with Gerald's father, Eddie Levert, Sr. ref the O'Jays, com- mented, "We watched him grow up and develop into a fine young man, wr_ter, producer and entertainer in this extremely tough world and business." A member of the R&B trio Levert, with his brother Sean and childhood friend Marc Gordon, Gerald became famous in the '80s with such hits as "Pop, Pop, Pep, Pop Goes My Gerald Levert was born with a soulful spoon in his mouth.
