We are proud to introduce this issue of Wishmaker as a testament to that endeavor right here in our Northeast New York chapter. And we are also proud to designate 2019 as The Year of the Wish Granter, recognizing the frontline volunteers who are the face of Make-A-Wish. (See pages 4-5 for more.) Among the remarkable wishes we were proud to grant during the last six months, this issue highlights: Ben’s milestone wish; Alyssa, a Wish teen who gave back, and Brayden, who wished to meet his Yankees. All of these wishes, and more, were made possible thanks to the creativity of our Wish Granters, the dedication of our Mission Delivery Team, and the generosity of our donors. We also continued to enjoy remarkable fundraising accomplishments. Our Fifth Annual Walk for Wishes in August broke records again this year, raising $125,000 and engaging more than 600 participants.

EPA is assigning this facility a No Further Remedial Action Planned (NFRAP) status meaning that, based on current information, the site does not qualify for inclusion on the NPL However we are recommending that your agency conduct some additional sampling. Of concern is the nearest groundwater well to the CISS, which is approximately 2.5 miles northwest of the facility and serves the residents of a small trailer park. We recommend that you sample this well for full Target Compound List (TCL) organics and inorganics and radionuclides and determine if this well is impacted by contaminant migration from the CISS.
