Poultry Schedule:Layout 1 Cover picture courtesy of Clive Moores, (Show Champion 2016) NANTWICH & SOUTH CHESHIRE SHOW WEDNESDAY 25th JULY 2018 POULTRY CLUB OF GREAT BRITAIN CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW Closing date for entries Monday 2nd JULY Penning Times Lifting Time Tuesday 24th July: 6.00 p.m. – 7.30 p.m. Wednesday 25th July: 4.30 p.m. (Security on duty over Tuesday night) Wednesday 25th July: 7.00 a.m. – 9.00 a.m. Judging Starts at 9.30 a.m. prompt ENTRY FEES PRIZE MONEY Poultry £1.00; Poultry: 1st £1.50 2nd £1.00 3rd 50p Eggs £1.00 Eggs: 1st £1.50 2nd £1.00 3rd 50p RULES 1. Correct entry form only 2. Breed and sex MUST be stated on entry form 3. Birds must not be handled whilst at Show (excluding Junior Handler classes) 4. Juniors must be aged between 6 and under 16 on the day of the show 5. Junior Handler Class is open to juniors aged between 6 and 10 6. There will be no sale of birds at the Show 7. The show will be held under Avian influenza (bird flu) General Licensing Rules 8. The latest DEFRA Biosecurity information will be made available to all exhibitors 9. The Marquee will be closed for judging 10. The Society will not be held responsible for loss or damage 11. Overnight exhibits are at owners risk 12. The Judge’s decision is final 13. Entries to be accompanied by the correct entry fee only 14. The Society reserve the right to cancel or amalgamate classes 15. The Society’s full Rules and Regulations are open for inspection at the office of the Secretary, copies of which are available on request, and every exhibitor, whether he shall inspect the said Rules and Regulations or not, shall be deemed to have notice thereof and shall be bound thereby 16. Each exhibitor will be issued with a vehicle pass. A free ticket of admission to the showground will be issued to each exhibitor making entries totalling £5.00 or more (birds and /or eggs). Those making insufficient entries to qualify may purchase one ticket of admission at the special price of £5.00. Additional tickets can be purchased at a reduced cost of £10.00. 17.     Museum of English Rural Life David Scrivener Collection D DS David Scrivener (1952 – 2015) was a committed and enthusiastic poultry- keeper. He earned a National Diploma in Poultry from Harper Adams Agricultural College in Shropshire. He utilised his expertise as a judge at various shows for the Poultry Club of Great Britain. David had a passion for rare breeds, particularly the Spanish, which he kept, and fulfilled various roles for the Rare Poultry Society, variously acting as Chairman, Honorary Historian and Patron. He was the author of several books on the subject including Starting with Bantams (2002), Exhibition Poultry Keeping (2005), Rare Poultry Breeds (2006) and Popular Poultry Breeds (2009). The Collection covers the year’s 1893 to 2007; undated. The physical extent of the collection is 17 boxes, 13 oversize items. D DS 1 Slides c. 1980 to 2015 Contains slides of various poultry species arranged by species and breed. Much of the information used here was obtained from Scrivener’s own annotations for each slide. Many of these photographs are studio portraits, used to illustrate Scrivener’s publications. A large proportion of the photographs were taken by John Tarren.
