Jay J Shannon & Winchester were great play- ing fantastic Country Music all day. This was this bands last show under this banner. Crosstown Connection has formed and will appear around the clubs in 2020. We have them for our May club show with Guest artist Gemma Tiller. So look out for this one. Our December guest artist was David Pearce who performed very well. David has been under a medical cloud for most of this year, but bounces back (for a young fella - 82 years young). Well done David. As you are well aware we have new caterers. Fiona & Matthew, with their sons Michael and Anthony, did very well in supplying meals for our December show. Well done guys appreciate your help. Moving onto our next show. Midnight special is our band to kick off 2020. They will be joined by our guest artists Mercia & Loni Manners. These two young ladies have not appeared at our club for many years. Lets hope this is the start of something great for them. We are going to trying to organise a day bus trip to SunnyVale on the York Peninsula for a Graeme Hugo concert. More details to come soon. So until our next show. Our band was Midnight Special with our Special Guest artist's Loni & Mercia Manners. Mercia & Loni were regular performers back when we were the Gawler Country Music Club when we were at the Bowling Club, but they went on with their lives and other things. They were part of the tribute show last year for Roger Howard. They still have great talent. They were joined on stage by their father, Steve, who also sang well. Well done ladies, and Steve you were terrific. I have been busy with organising a day bus trip to Graeme Hugo at Sunnyvale on the upper Yorke Peninsula. We did this trip in December last year and it was a fantastic day out. The cost will be $70 for the day's outing. The cost includes bus trip, morning tea with Graeme , a one and a half hour con- cert and lunch. Pick up at the Munno Para Shopping Centre at around 8.30am and return around 4.30pm. Bookings are being taken and the closing time will be around about May. So be early if you want to go along. Well our next show will be Gary Daniel and Tru-Country with our guest artist Derani Sanders. This will be another great day. So until then. We had a quiet Christmas, enjoyable but very hot. Regarding these horrible fires burning around Australia, we have seen fires before but not like this. Thank you to the hard working firemen and the volunteers, for without you I don't know where we would be. Thank you to our Army and any other Forces that may have helped Australia. Thank you The Committee hope we can have another good year in 2020. Best wishes to everyone. We started our club shows this year in January. It was good with guest artists Mercia & Loni Manners. We haven't seen them since GCMC was at Munno Para Bowling Club, it made my birthday, to see and hear your beautiful singing. Thank you. Thank you to everyone who gave me birthday wishes, and to our daughter Fiona putting signs everywhere. Happy Birthday to all other people who had birthdays too. Membership Renewals are due in May 2020. This is in 4 months time, so don't panic. Hope to see you at the club soon. Regards Helen. Media Release Wednesday 1 November, 2017 FIVE NSW MUSIC EVENTS WORTH MAKING A SONG AND DANCE ABOUT NSW’s music scene will hit a high note over the next three months with a jam-packed calendar of music events and festivals taking place across the State. Be it rock, pop, DJ’s, country music or Elvis, there is something for all music fans and Destination NSW is encouraging gig-lovers to start planning their trip to these events now. NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said, “From Sydney to rural and regional NSW, when it comes to Australia’s biggest, best and most diverse music events, it’s clear it’s all on in NSW. “Whether it’s acclaimed acoustic singer-songwriters, internationally renowned DJ’s, Elvis impersonators or heritage Australian country and rock legends, the NSW music event calendar has something for everyone. “More than 500 events have been secured for Sydney and rural and regional NSW by the NSW Government since March 2011 and these events have delivered an estimated visitor spend in excess of $3 billion to the State,” said Mr Marshall. To help plan your next music road trip, Destination NSW has pulled together some highlights on the upcoming NSW music event calendar: 1. Soak up the sunshine and enjoy some delicious foodie treats and impressive DJ beats at MTV Beats & Eats in Wollongong on 18 November MTV Australia will bring tastes and tunes to the beachside location of Stuart Park, North Wollongong, for MTV Beats & Eats on Saturday 18 November. BECCY COLE SWEET REBECCA ABC/UNIVERSAL Country songstress Beccy Cole has delighted Australian listeners and concert goers for more than twenty years. The Adelaide-born star’s glowing warmth, honeyed voice, bawdy sense of humour and perpetual smile have helped make Beccy one of the nation’s best-loved and most celebrated artists. With her stunning tenth release Sweet Rebecca, Beccy colours these winning qualities with bittersweet remembrance and reflection on her life thus far – both onstage and off. With nine Golden Guitars to her name (including four for Female Vocalist of the Year), as well as multiple ARIA Top 10 Country and Top 40 Mainstream albums, a Top 10 DVD, three gold- certified releases, and more than a dozen No. 1 Australian country singles, Beccy Cole is one of Australia’s most successful singer-songwriters. Since 1997, Beccy has piloted a succession of stellar releases, including most recent ARIA- nominated studio effort Songs & Pictures (2011), featuring the Golden Guitar-winning hits ‘Waitress’ and ‘Millionaires’ (with Kasey Chambers). Sweet Rebecca follows hot on the heels of Beccy’s phenomenal collaboration with Melinda Schneider, Great Women of Country (2014). As the title promises, Sweet Rebecca is the most personal album of Beccy’s career. The release coincides with the publication of Beccy’s strikingly candid memoir, Poster Girl. It was the frequently gruelling task of penning this tell-all account of her life and career to date that inspired the intensely, grippingly honest songs of Sweet Rebecca. “For me, every time I write songs it’s a very cathartic experience, because I write about my life,” Beccy says.
