It was an ambitious project: JACKIE NICKERSON JACKIE I fly David Beckham to seven continents around the world in NICKERSON JACKIE seven days (we did it in nine in the end) to play seven games of football and, in so doing, demonstrate the global appeal with David Beckham... of the beautiful game and how in some places it significantly changes some people’s lives for the better. After playing in Australasia, Asia, Africa, South America, the Antarctic and and an ALEXA Mini North America, the filming would end up at Old Trafford (Europe), where he would play the final game and raise money for the charity UNICEF. I was immediately excited When GTC sponsors ARRI announced the ALEXA Mini at BVE last year, it immediately seemed that this about shooting this on my ARRI AMIRA. TRUE FILMS 3.0 This is the golden age of documentaries. Inexpensive equipment, new methods of distribution, and a very eager audi- ence have all launched a renaissance in non-fiction film making and viewing. The very best of these non-fiction films are as entertaining as the best Hol- lywood blockbusters. Because they are true, their storylines seem fresh with authentic plot twists, real characters, and truth stranger than fiction. Most true films are solidly informative, and a few are genuinely useful like a tool. The rise of documentaries and true cinema is felt not only in movie theaters, but on network TV and cable channels as well. Reality TV, non-fiction stations like the History Channel or Discovery, and BBC imports have increased the choices in true films tremendously. There’s no time to watch them all, and little guidance to what’s great. In this book I offer 200+ great true films. I define true films as documentaries, educational films, instructional how-to’s, and what the British call factuals – a non-fiction visual account. These 200 are the best non-fiction films I’ve found for general interest. I’ve watched all these films more than once. Sometimes thrice. I haven’t had TV for 20 years, so I’ve concentrated my viewing time on documentaries and true films. I run a little website (www.truefilms.com) where I solicit suggestions of great stuff. We launched Put it Right to promote children’s rights and show how UNICEF’s work helps children to survive and thrive. By telling real-life stories of children around the world through a coordinated advertising and marketing campaign, Put it Right showed how fulfilling children’s rights are fundamental to building a better world. We also developed our Child Friendly Communities programme, aimed at realising and embedding child rights at the local level throughout the UK people. We piloted the programme with 13 UK local authorities. We staged our third and most successful Soccer Aid football match and telethon, raising £2.5 million for children affected by the earthquake in Haiti and for child survival programmes in Madagascar, Peru and Guinea. We exceeded our five-year target and raised £17.5 million for children affected by AIDS, including over £2.1 million in 2010. ACHIEVEMENT We further expanded International Inspiration, the international social legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. NEWS RELEASE Charley Boorman’s USA Adventure to broadcast on television this month Washington, DC - November 04, 2013 Seasoned wanderluster and motorcycle enthusiast, Charley Boorman, has once again teamed up with producer/director Russ Malkin – and this time they take on an incredible journey exploring the USA. Charley and the crew’s epic seven-week expedition began in Hawaii on 21st June 2013, before travelling over 8,000 miles across 22 states, to showcase the eclectic cultures, history, landscapes, locals and adventure that the USA has to offer. Beginning the trip in the Hedonisia community of Hawaii, Charley and team camped out on the glass desert of the lava fields before diving on an ancient wreck in Oahu. The team then flew up to Alaska to be taught hardcore trekking with the Alaskan Mountaineering School, traversing the precarious Mt. McKinley with Charley building and sleeping in his own snow-hole. Charley then travelled predominantly by motorbike across the entire country, from East to West, across the Southern Belt of the USA discovering her vast and varying landscapes. Exploring the history of the USA Charley and Russ dove on a WW1 German U-boat in Beaufort, and joined in re-enacting the 4th of July battle in Charlotte. Riding out with EagleRider, the team travelled across Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas before being hit by an impressive lightning storm in New Mexico. The intrepid adventurers then made their way through Colorado, Wyoming, Utah ending up in California for the traditional final biking convoy from Pt. Mugu to Venice Beach, Los Angeles.
