Message from the President It is with sincere appreciation that we thank our partners, investors, board of directors and stakeholders for your continued commitment and support of Penn’s Northeast. As Chairman and President of this organization, we are privileged to represent this regional partnership that exemplifies the best of our collective assets. With leads increasing and overall economic activity slowly picking up, it appears that the economic recovery is underway. Signs indicate that business is on the upswing and companies are looking for new locations in which to operate. Some fluctuation will continue in the commercial/industrial building markets and job creation may be slower than we’d like, but we are confident the resiliency, creativity and tenacity of our region’s residents and institutions will prevail. However, there are still challenges ahead and we must make the most of all CHUCK LEONarD, Chairman opportunities to best position our region to benefit from the economic recovery in the upcoming fiscal year and beyond. Several years ago, Penn’s Northest partners and stakeholders developed a strategic action plan. It has provided the blueprint for our annual program of work and the various activities and initiatives the organization has pursued. Throughout this document the key goal(s) addressed are referenced. We processed over 60 leads, toured numerous prospects, hosted the PA foreign direct investment delegation and worked in collaboration with local, regional and statewide stakeholders to brand our four county region as a desirable, business friendly location to grow and/or expand businesses. We continue to proactively market our competitive advantages including location, highly skilled and talented workforce, infrastructure, etc. By working in collaboration with our highly talented economic development partners as an agile and virtual team, we are able to respond to clients with the available sites and/or buildings, demographic information and other specifics quickly and in a customer friendly manner. PENNY CANNELLA, President As we look to 2010/2011 and beyond, we are confident that by working together we will continue to provide excellent service and product development. Our regional brand, collective reputation as a prime location, infrastructure and quality of place will help lead us through this long economic downturn. Our members are building the infrastructure that is required and it is important that we stay true to our mission. Without the ongoing financial support of our partners and investors none of this would be possible. We ask for your continued support to keep our region and the mission of this organization moving forward to achieve regional prosperity for our communities, our businesses and our families. • 2004 PGA TOUR Media Guide / 1-1 Table of Contents
A Message to the Media n behalf of the players and staff, welcome to the 2004 PGA TOUR season. We appreciate your continued interest in our sport, and we clearly recognize the extent to which our success is tied to the thorough and professional coverage we receive from a Owide variety of global media outlets. As the PGA TOUR begins another great season, we can truly state that the image and competitive spirit of our players has led to the healthiest state in the history of our organization. The Sports Business Journal recently reaffirmed this when it published the “2003 League Report Card,” a survey of corporate sponsors’ opinions of their investment in sports properties. The PGA TOUR ranked first in overall satisfaction among the 16 major sports. This is important as we continue to raise the exposure of our tournaments, provide significant value to our sponsors and showcase the widespread excellence of our athletes. The competition level on the PGA TOUR in 2003 was at an all-time high, with season-ending honors going down to the wire. Tiger Woods recorded a season-high five victories and the lowest stroke average on TOUR and garnered a fifth consecutive Player of the Year honor. Vijay Singh won four times and captured his first money title. Davis Love III won a career-high four times, includ- ing THE PLAYERS Championship, making 2003 the first time in 30 years where three players won four or more times in a season. However, the depth of the TOUR was never more evident. Eleven players age 40 or older combined to capture 15 PGA TOUR titles.

ABSTRACT Title of Thesis: DOLLAR SPOT AND GRAY LEAF SPOT SEVERITY AS INFLUENCED BY IRRIGATION PRACTICE AND PLANT PROTECTION MATERIALS Steven James McDonald, Master of Science, 2005 Thesis Directed By: Peter H. Dernoeden, Ph. D. Professor Department of Natural Resources Sciences and Landscape Architecture Agrostis stolonifera and Lolium perenne are widely used turfgrass species grown on golf fairways, however, they are susceptible to dollar spot (Sclerotinia homoeocarpa) and gray leaf spot (Pyricularia grisea) diseases, respectively. Two field studies were conducted to assess: 1) the influence of two irrigation regimes and seven chemical treatments on dollar spot and gray leaf spot severity; and 2) the effects of two spray volumes (468 and 1020 L water ha-1), two fungicides (chlorothalonil and propiconazole) and three application timings (dew present or displaced and dry canopy) on dollar spot control. Dollar spot was more severe in A. stolonifera subjected to infrequent irrigation; whereas, gray leaf spot was more severe in frequently irrigated L. perenne. The plant growth regulator and wetting agent evaluated suppressed dollar spot, but they had no effect on gray leaf spot. Chlorothalonil was most effective when applied to a dry canopy in 468 L water ha-1. DOLLAR SPOT AND GRAY LEAF SPOT SEVERITY AS INFLUENCED BY IRRIGATION PRACTICE AND DISEASE MANAGEMENT WITH PLANT PROTECTION MATERIALS By Steven J. McDonald Thesis submitted to the Faculty of the Graduate School of the University of Maryland, College Park, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science 2005 Advisory Committee: Dr. Peter H.
