Protect, Preserve and Expand our Green Legacy: Rock Run Greenway ROCK RUN GREENWAY Theodore Marsh – the last unprotected gap in the 9-mile Rock Run Greenway in the Joliet-Lockport area – was acquired during the Centennial by the Forest Preserve of Will County. This acquisition achieves two Green Legacy goals – preserving regionally significant open space and completing our regional trail system. Rock Run consists of 1,200 acres of high quality wetlands and uplands inter- connected by a greenway trail that forms a loop connect- ing to the I & M Canal Trail and the Grand Illinois Trail. Rock Run Greenway is an example of creative collabora- tion among several units of government working together to enhance local quality of life by protecting a valuable Forest Preserve District of Will County natural area.
