SPECIALIST

NATURE OF WORK:

Performs professional work in marketing and promoting the effective use of the facilities of the Spokane Public Facilities District. Uses creative and promotional techniques in an effort to maximize facility usage. Independent professional judgment is exercised in solving problems within the assigned work area. Work is light in nature, primarily performed under normal working conditions and requires above normal attention to prevent errors.

Will be required to work odd and unusual hours.

SUPERVISION:

Work is performed under general direction with unusual cases referred to the supervisor. Reports to Marketing Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Works with the Marketing Manager and CC General Manager to develop strategic and effective marketing and campaigns for the Spokane Convention Center.

Coordinates promotional activities including, but not limited to, facility marketing, advertising sales, special events, and related programs designed to attract groups to the facility.

Works closely with the CC General Manager or designee and Sales Team to develop sales pieces, both print and electronic.

Assists the Design Specialist in maintaining the Convention Center website.

Assists with the development of the Convention Center’s annual marketing plan and budget.

Assists in the development and creation of advertising and marketing collateral including, but not limited to, newspaper and magazine ads, billboard and poster artwork and other non-traditional forms of media.

Develops and implements efforts for the Convention Center, including local, regional and national social activity to increase online exposure.

Assists Marketing Manager with Convention Center related media events and activities, including press conferences, on-site media coordination, press releases, etc.

Works closely with Design Specialist to develop traditional and non-traditional graphic materials and to update in-house electronic message centers and marquee content for the Spokane Convention Center and INB Performing Arts Center.

Works closely with General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Sales Managers and SPFD Marketing Partners to ensure success of events.

Promotes both internal and external Guest services, including fellow employees, contract service providers, event planners and event attendees.

Performs related work as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:

Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally, both written and oral. Knowledge of and ability to plan, organize, and implement advertising, , and campaigns. Knowledge of and ability to utilize modern computer applications including databases. Ability to develop effective working relationships with media to facilitate publicity. Ability to design in a fast paced energetic atmosphere with a good overall attitude toward teammates and clientele. Must be able to work independently, stay focused on overall current objectives and manage time appropriately. Effectively utilize web based graphics and print graphics.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a business degree in marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design or related field. Knowledge and experience utilizing Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and PHP/MySQL AND, one year of responsible experience in a related position with responsibility for marketing. Education requirement may be waived in certain situations.

SALARY AND STATUS: $30,000 - $40,000 Exempt
