This membership has been agreed by the Employment and Skills Board; members may request to bring guests when relevant, but must seek prior agreement from the Chair and LEP.

Purpose/Scope of the Group

The Humber LEP Employment and Skills Work Strategy 2014-2020 sets strategic priorities for the delivery and growth of apprenticeships in the Humber region. This builds on previous Humber Skills Commission recommendations, and the required actions that deliver the skills priorities of the City Deal. The Strategy also takes into consideration the work that underpins investment delivered by the European Social Fund and the Growth Fund in relation to employment and skills priorities. Led by a member of the LEP Employment and Skills Board, the group priorities will be delivered by a range of nominated people and will be further supported by members of the Humber LEP Skills network or specific networks when appropriate. The key objectives for the group, as outlined in the Employment and Skills Strategy are listed below.

Key objectives

To respond to local, regional and national apprenticeship issues (e.g. the Reform Agenda); reporting key issues to the LEP Employment and Skills Board.

To work in collaborative partnership to improve opportunities for growth of apprenticeships at all levels

To act as the LEP’s provider ‘voice’ in response to apprenticeship consultation

To deliver key activities that support and drive the Humber LEP’s Employment and Skills Strategy

To inform the development, delivery, and monitoring of performance of the LEP Apprenticeship Growth Programme

To develop and implement a pilot Apprenticeship Brokerage Service with key outputs:  130 Apprenticeship starts  320 businesses engaged

To promote additional apprenticeship funding opportunities to partners such as RGF2/3 and the National Apprenticeship Service grant programme which offers employers £1500 where applicable.

To secure additional funding resources to promote the development of Apprenticeships across the Humber area.

To support and promote National Apprenticeship Week.

To work closely with the regional and national Apprenticeship Ambassadors.

To contribute and drive the development of the Apprenticeship Growth Plan for the Humber, ensuring regular dialogue with the Employment and Skills Board.

Frequency of Meetings/reporting structure

The group shall meet for a minimum of six times per year. A quorum at each meeting shall be 7 members. The group will report regularly to the LEP Employment and Skills Board on all actions, contributing to the Employment and Skills Strategy Implementation Plan.
