Strain-Bell Submitted to the Department of Urban Studies and Planning on May 28, 1985 in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Master in City Planning ABSTRACT A qualitative research study was carried out to explore problems of organizational conflict. The conditions and processes of organizational conflict, issues of substantive organizational conflict, and organizational learning or failure to learn were investigated. A variation of intensive interviewing, semi-structured, was used to obtain primary information on organizational events at the Boston Ballet, a nonprofit performing arts organization made up of a ballet school and a ballet company. Six organizational members occupying different positions from the art, teaching, and administrative staffs were interviewed. Five of the six had been interviewed ten months earlier in 1984. There were four telephone interviews, two were follow-up and two were conducted with former organization members. On average, interviews lasted two hours. A tape recorder was used during face-to-face interviews. Thirty-one questions were formulated to focus on substantive issues of organizational conflict. -

Patricia Brown: grew up in New Jersey and studied ballet at a young age with the New Jersey Ballet School. As a teenager, Patricia was awarded full scholarships to the American Ballet Theatre School and the Joffrey Ballet School. Ms. Brown has danced professionally with the New Jersey Ballet Company, Joffrey II Ballet Company, Cleveland Ballet (soloist), the Elliot Feld Ballet, and the Joffrey Ballet Company (soloist). She has worked with many well-known choreographers such as Agnes DeMille, Anthony Tudor, Gerald Arpino, Elliot Feld, Paul Taylor, Laura Dean, and Dennis Nahat. Ms. Brown has served as principal teacher for trainee programs at the Milwaukee Ballet School, Joffrey Ballet School, Harrisburg Ballet School, Nashville Ballet School, The Dance Center, and the Mill Ballet School. She has taught company classes for Joffrey II Ballet, the Elliot Feld Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Harrisburg Ballet, Brandywine Ballet Theatre, the Roxey Ballet, and she has served as Ballet Mistress for the Pennsylvania Ballet. Ms. Brown has choreographed ballets performed at Joffrey Ballet workshop, Milwaukee Ballet workshop, Harrisburg Ballet Company, Brandywine Ballet Theater, the Roxey Ballet and for the international competition at Avery Fisher Hall in New York. Patricia has been asked to join the faculty of the Joffrey School in New York City and commutes weekly to teach class. Val Gontcharov: In 1974 at the age of 11 Val successfully competed against 40 other applicants for the one opening in the Kieu Ballet School. After graduation in 1982, five different companies offered him positions, but he chose the Donetsk Ballet to be closer to his parents' home. -

As friends of NFB and valued patrons of the arts, we have listened to your feedback and identified new performance locations and expanded use of others to continue bringing you the world-class productions our organization is known for. Through our expanded partnership with Grand Boulevard, we will present Giselle to the community as a free outdoor performance in Grand Park in October. We return to the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in November for our 38th annual production of The Nutcracker. In December we bring back the electrifying Lightwire Theater with A Very Electric Christmas for two performances at the Destin United Methodist Church Life Center. -

He was given an unofficial title of the Golden Trumpet of Russia. Milstein makes frequent appearances with his jazz orchestra at international ballroom dancing competitions. MOSCOW-BASED RUSSIAN PHILHARMONIC SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA – this is the first and only symphonic orchestra in the capital.
