SENIOR SOCIAL WORK ASSISTANT 18.5 hours per week Salary: £9,336 to £10,270 per annum per annum, plus 26.3% enhancement for unsocial hours. About us The Emergency Duty Team (EDT) has co-located with partner agencies in the Express Park Police Centre in Bridgwater and contribute to the Safeguarding work of the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), ensuring children safeguarding referrals are prioritised as part of the County Council’s 24x7 First Response Service. We are looking to appoint a Senior Social Work Assistant to join this modernised and developing service. About the job During weekday evenings and overnight, weekends and Bank Holidays you will contribute to the emergency assessment and provision of care and support to children and their families across the County. You will assist the duty social workers with the assessment by phoning clients’ with urgent out of hour’s needs, giving advice and providing services and support to make situations safe until the next working day. You will staff the EDT office and receive incoming phone calls, alone at times, and in the absence of duty social workers on visits; working with a degree of autonomy, but also maintaining appropriate phone contact and consultation with the duty social workers. Although essentially office- based, you may on occasions attend a police station as an Appropriate Adult for a juvenile or provide one to one support for a young person and their family. The current working pattern is Monday to Friday 17.00 to 1.00, and Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holiday’s 08:30 to 16:30 or 17.00 to 01.00 on a 4 week rolling rota. This equates to roughly 9 shifts a month. You will be expected to work Saturday and Sunday daytime every other weekend. About you You should have an NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or a relevant qualification/experience, and will also have excellent people skills and an empathy and respect for vulnerable individuals. You will be a good listener, committed to getting the best out of someone and should look for solutions that empower people wherever possible. You will provide accurate typed reports of work undertaken. Health Interface Service – working as part of the multi-disciplinary team based in Musgrove Park Hospital, you will work with people and their families discharged from the hospital on a discharge to assess pathway back to their own home. Getting people out of hospital and assessed in their own homes instead of on a hospital ward provides a much better understanding of their abilities and needs. You will be responsible for devising reablement plans to maximise their independence, setting personalised goals with them, and for the reablement providers to work on. You will advise on creative solutions and utilise assistive technology to help people return and remain at home. You will work closely with community and voluntary organisations, as well as health colleagues to provide better outcomes for people.

PRINCIPAL HIGHWAY DESIGN ENGINEER 37 hours per week Salary: £33,136 - £37,107 per annum About the job Reporting to the Service Manager – Engineering Design you will undertake and manage the development and design of a range of major Highway Improvement projects throughout Somerset. You will be the principal point of contact for Land Owners, Statutory Undertakers, Stakeholders, specialist design teams and members of the public with respect to specific Highway Improvement Schemes. You will provide a key role in ensuring the progression of projects from inception through to completion which will involve investigation, liaison with multiple teams internal to the Council, liaison with multiple parties external to the Council and prepare detailed correspondence and reports. You will also be expected to support colleagues in the development of their skills About you You will have proven experience in a project / design team role with direct relationships with the customer and stakeholders. PRINCIPAL DEVELOPMENT INFRASTRUCTURE OFFICER 37 hours per week Salary: £33,136 - £37,107 per annum About the job Reporting to the Service Manager, Development Engineering you will lead the team responsible for, manage and oversee, the implementation of developer led and third-party highway infrastructure delivery projects through effective technical administration of legal agreements and licences. You will establish and implement appropriate processes and measures to ensure service delivery quality standards are satisfied and monitor the performance of the team. You will develop working relationships with all developers, designers and contractors and oversee the implementation of multiple delivery programmes. You will undertake more complex investigations into major political/technical/legal issues associated with highway infrastructure delivered via agreements under Section 106 Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and Section 278 Highways Act 1980. You will also be expected to advocate serious complaints or ombudsman enquiries in a professional manner which protects and reflects the standards of the Council. You will prepare financial account reports principally relating to fee income, cash bonds, commuted sums and contributions. About you You will have demonstrable experience in a project or legal agreement management role, preferably within a technical or engineering environment, with direct relationships with the customer or end user. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills with the ability to prepare and communicate technical information and data in a way which is accessible to a range of audiences. You will have proven experience in negotiating and liaising with clients, consultants, contractors, other public bodies and members of the public on complex and sensitive project, legal and technical matters. The successful candidate must have excellent telephony and communication skills, be customer-facing and share our core aims and values.
