A NOTE FROM FR. ROLF TOLLEFSON Discussion Questions for Week 3: Strengthen Your Friendship with Christ in the Catholic Church Think about your exercise goals. What do I do to strengthen my body? What am I doing to strengthen my friendship with Christ, out of gratitude, who has done SO MUCH for me? Remember, “no pain, no gain!” Think about your “best friend,” whoever that was, in the past or present. What adjectives would you use to describe her or him? How do you learn about, spend time “being with” and loving my friend Jesus? Friends also challenge one another to grow. A real friend will not ignore your character faults, but will gently point them out in the context of love. Have I ever had to “fraternally correct” someone? What do I most LOVE about being Catholic? The official teaching of the Catholic Church comes to us from Christ [for example, see today’s first reading, when Jesus gave instructions, through the Holy Spirit to his apostles (and then the apostles handed on this teaching, called the “deposit of faith” to the bishops through “apostolic succession.”)] If I have difficulty with some Church teachings, as explained in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, have I taken time to read about why the Catholic Church teaches what she does? Am I open to being corrected? Have I brought my anger, my fear, my doubts and so on about this teaching to my friend Jesus in prayer—for half an hour or so, so he can love me in it? Annual Memorial Mass The annual Memorial Mass for the Knights of Columbus Archbishop John Roach Council 10031 will be held Monday, May 9.
