I can't explain why exactly, but my expectations weren't very high. I am a HUGE fan of 70's and 80's wrestling, and Memphis wrestling in particular, so I gave it a shot. This book is really, really good! Dundee is very honest in his opinions, and gives a lot of great insight into the world of Memphis wrestling, and the nature of his relationships with and in particular. There are a lot of great stories about wrestling in Australia and eventually coming over to America with partner George Barnes. Funny stories about Nick Gulas, Jarrett, Lawler, and just about everyone who came through Memphis. If you love Memphis wrestling, I would consider this to be a "must buy" book. My only criticism is that I wish he provided a little more depth to the stories he told, and the events in his career. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I found myself saying "I wish he talked a little more about ______" while reading it. If it had been longer and more in-depth, I would have given it 5 stars. Very entertaining!By PeterI must admit that I have seen very little Superstar Bill Dundee matches over the years so I approached this book with some trepidation expecting either a "low class kick everyone" sort of book or one of the "wrestling is real" kayfabe books.What I got was an extremely entertaining read by a born storyteller who pulls no punches and (fortunately) doesn't feel the need to rehash the tired old stories that we have all heard before.The Superstar tells some great stories throughout and I thoroughly enjoyed each fast paced chapter. Dundee has a fair liking for himself but you need an ego to succeed in wrestling so no problem there.I wouldn't mind a sequel to this, I am sure Dundee has more to tell.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. From being a poacher, to working for a traveling circus to his life in the ring. Bill Dundee gives you behind the seens insight on his family life and Memphis Wrestling. The book includes stories about Andy Kaufman, , , , Jeff Jarret and his on and off again feud with Jerry Lawler. Bill Dundee currently works for Coles traveling circus. He came to our school to and brought a clown to entertain the kids. He also brought circus passes and he signed the copy of my book. The Life and Times of professional Wrestler Bill Dundee, told in his own words.
