Established in 1971, the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park is located in the coastal line of the Vilankulo and Inhassoro districts, in the Inhambane Province, spanning over 5 islands: Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Santa Carolina and Bangué. The Park, with an extension of 1583 km2, was created to preserve the dugong and the sea turtles. Those who dive in the Park’s turquoise waters can witness the picturesque beauty of the corals and its rich ecosystem. You can also spend some quality time in the Park’s forests with saltwater lagoons, where the flamingos meet. 4 ANAC BAZARUTO ARCHIPELAGO NATIONAL PARK 5 Inhassoro Bazaruto Island HOW TO GET TO THE PARK BY AIR If you are coming from South Africa, there are direct Vilanculos flights from Johannesburg and Nelspruit to Vilankulo. In case you are coming from another country, you can book a flight to Maputo and then to Vilankulo. When you arrive at the Vilankulo International Airport, you will find charter flights available that will take you to the Park.
