RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of Harford County officially expresses its deep appreciation to the retiring employees for their dedicated years of service to the Harford County Public School System and its sincere wishes for good health and happiness to each of them in retirement.

CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION MONTH

JANUARY 27, 2014

WHEREAS, the Association for Career and Technical Education, formerly the American Vocational Association, has designated the month of February 2014, as National Career and Technical Education Month; and

WHEREAS, the theme is “Celebrate CTE Superheroes” and

WHEREAS, career and technical education allows millions of Americans to build a solid, satisfying future by preparing for careers that make fullest use of their natural abilities; and

WHEREAS, career and technical education prepares students for a lifetime of employment and occupational growth by stressing the importance of lifelong learning and by strengthening students’ capacity to adjust to a rapidly changing economy and technological workplace; and

WHEREAS, career and technical educators contribute to the growth and vitality of Harford County’s businesses and industries by working in close partnership with the community’s business leaders and by teaching the skills and attitudes most valued by local employers; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of Harford County proclaims the month of February 2014 as National Career and Technical Education Month and urges citizens to become better acquainted with the services and benefits offered by the vocational-technical education programs in the Harford County Public Schools. NATIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELING WEEK

JANUARY 27, 2014

WHEREAS, the American School Counselor Association has designated the week of February 3 - 7, 2014, as National School Counseling Week; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of the American School Counselor Association’s celebration is to highlight the school counselors’ significant contributions to students’ growth and achievement; and

WHEREAS, the American School Counselor Association’s theme for the week-long celebration is “School Counseling: Building Magical Futures;” and

WHEREAS, the Board of Education of Harford County wishes to join the American School Counselor Association through giving recognition to the school counselors in the Harford County Public School System and acknowledging February 3 - 7, 2014, as National School Counseling Week; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of Harford County endorses the American School Counselor Association’s theme, “School Counselors: Helping Students Be Brilliant,” and proclaims the week of February 3 - 7, 2014, as School Counseling Week in the Harford County Public Schools.
