It was observed that Chevalior Sivaji film songs reflect the theoretical domain such as (i) equity and social justice and (ii) the practice of virtue in the society. In this research work attention has been made to conceptualize the ethical ideas and compare it with the ethical theories using a novel methodology wherein the ideas contained in the film song are compared with the ethical theory. Few songs with the uncompromising premise of patni (chastity of women) with the four important charateristics of women of Tamil culture i.e. acham, madam, nanam and payirpu that leads to the great concept of chastity practiced by exalting woman like Kannagi has also been dealt with. The ethical ideas that contain in the selection of songs were made out from the selected movies acted by Chevalier Shivaji giving preference to the songs that contain the above unique concept of ethics. • Depicting Hero in Mainstream Tamil Cinema: the Mould That Changes
International Journal of Advanced Science and Technology Vol. 29, No. 12s, (2020), pp. 09-14 Depicting Hero In Mainstream Tamil Cinema: The Mould That Changes Prabakaran V* & Dr. G Balasubramaniaraja** *Ph.D. Scholar, Reg No: 17234011021141, ManonmaniamSundaranar University, Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu, India. Assistant Professor, Department of Visual Communication, FSH, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tamilnadu, India **Professor and Head, Department of Communication, ManonmaniamSundaranar University, Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu, India Abstract The Protagonist, a hero, generally is the central character of any film. The antagonist, a Villain, performs against the Hero and negative side of the story. However, at times hero characters come with a negative shade. The films come up with the reasonable (at least to them) flashback stories in antihero subjects. They justify their harmful protagonist activities. For example, all the don stories of Tamil cinema have a flashback explaining why he has become so. MGR used the medium to communicate the positive elements only to maintain his image among the audiences and to convey his ideologies. He even made sure that his film titles convey the positivity. In this paper, the researcher analyses the changing image of the hero characters in Tamil cinema Keywords: The Hero, Tamil Cinema, Image building, antihero, Characterization Introduction Hero characters in Tamil cinema are classified into these categories. Category One, the good guy, who does good to the society in a natural way whatever the situation he faces. Second one whatever the way maybe; doing good to the society is matters. The third one is not at all good, so do not expect good from him.

  • TAMIL CINEMA Tamil Cinema
TAMIL CINEMA Tamil cinema (also known as Cinema of Tamil Nadu, the Tamil film industry or the Chennai film industry) is the film industry based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, dedicated to the production of films in the Tamil language. It is based in Chennai's Kodambakkam district, where several South Indian film production companies are headquartered. Tamil cinema is known for being India's second largest film industry in terms of films produced, revenue and worldwide distribution,[1] with audiences mainly including people from the four southern Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andra Pradesh, and Karnataka. Silent films were produced in Chennai since 1917 and the era of talkies dawned in 1931 with the film Kalidas.[2] By the end of the 1930s, the legislature of the State of Madras passed the Entertainment Tax Act of 1939.[3] Tamil cinema later had a profound effect on other filmmaking industries of India, establishing Chennai as a secondary hub for Telugu cinema, Malayalam cinema, Kannada cinema, and Hindi cinema. The industry also inspired filmmaking in Tamil diaspora populations in other countries, such as Sri Lankan Tamil cinema and Canadian Tamil cinema.[6] Film studios in Chennai are bound by legislation, such as the Cinematography Film Rules of 1948,[7] the Cinematography Act of 1952,[8] and the Copyright Act of 1957.[9] Influences Tamil cinema has been impacted by many factors, due to which it has become the second largest film industry of India. The main impacts of the early cinema were the cultural influences of the country. The Tamil language, ancient than the Sanskrit, was the medium in which many plays and stories were written since the ages as early as the Cholas.
